Whacha doin' for the SUPER BOWL?

Good God that sounds great. I've got plans to watch it in Lakeview but now you've got me trying to figure out how to weasel out of that.

After being in NOLA for only 3 weeks after a two year overseas trip I can tell you this post essentially encapsulates everything that is great about the city.

What were you doing overseas?

My son is a homebrewer but only the hard stuff. Can't bring any of that to Buff's or it might put him out of business.

New Orleans is my favorite big city in the world! People know how to live and enjoy life down there. I almost moved there instead of L.A. a million years ago. Too late now, but I have visited a few times over the years. Where else do they sing in the malls and on the streets, hand out tasty goodies in front of restaurants, greet you with a warm smile and cheerful hello, plus terrific music everywhere! I love the South but I'm temporarily stuck on the Left coast. Maybe in my next life I'll be a Cajun.

And you didn't even mention what a guy can get in that city for a cheap string of beads!!!

will be rooting for ' WHO DAT ' while enjoying my drinks in the midst of beautiful women with fake boobs in crazyhorse III.

The parents are coming over for the game. We are gonna chow down on some spicy boiled shrimp and some boudin balls.

Who Dat Say Day Gonna Beat Them Saints . . .

I said, "WHO DAT"!!

I lived in Gentilly for three years . . . NOLA is the most unique fun city on the planet . . . great food (!!) . . . great entertainment . . . lots of history . . . I miss her.

I musta' spent $5k on spices after I left, cause no one knows how to cook outside that town . . . everything was bland and lifeless.

I'm makin' red beans and rice and shrimp remoulade . . . and maybe even a small pot of my favorite crab and shrimp gumbo for the Super Bowl. It sure would be nice to see the Saints pull one out - they've certainly paid their dues!

Funny but true story - I lived there from '79 - '83. The Saints were 0-13 at least one of those. The bag heads started here! Jim Henderson was the Sportscaster on New Orleans TV. He decided to be a nice guy - he had four tickets to the Monday night football game in '81 and couldn't go, so he left them on his windshield wiper near the downtown studio thinking someone would enjoy them. When he came out of the studio later that night there were four more tickets stuck on the other windshield wiper!!!!:eek:

That's how bad they were!

Geaux Saints!!

Dat sounds real good. Isn't anyone going to make any Gar Balls this Super Bowl? yummmm. You just have to be a Cajun or married to one to really appreciate or even know about Gar Balls. They're the nuts! :D:p

Jim Henderson is still here doing a great job for the New Orleans Saints Network. You can hear him on 870 AM radio. The Saints aren't the Aint's any longer. It has been a long time coming. I am really glad Mr. Benson got a chance to see how great his Saints have become.

They are up against a powerhouse with the Colts but if the starts align themselves just right, the Saints could send them to the glue factory. :p

GO SAINTS!

Jay, on behalf of the People of Louisiana, and hopefully all the AZ'ers from here in Bayou Country, I bestow the Honorary Title of "Cajun",which we give with the highest respect. If you come down here to visit your new "kinfolk",the Coon Asses,we will treat you with the same consideration we give to our own. For tomorrow,we will include you as a Member of the "Who Dat Nation",and may greet other Saints Fans with the obligatory greeting,"Who Dat!"
Welcome Home!

It has been a while since I had gar balls. Mighty fine.

We have added red beans and rice and a few crawfish pies to the shrimp and boudin balls....

Joey,

I was very tempted to plan a trip back home for the big party, but it just wasn't in the cards. I'm having a little New Orleans party of my own here in Fort Collins. I'm making Red Beans and Rice, Jambalaya, and Shrimp Remoulaude. I've also mail-ordered a King Cake from Gambino's.

Go Saints,
Dave

Hey Dave,
I had no idea you were a Louisiana native.... I am from Natchitoches and lived in Metarie for 2 years. I have been waiting for this day my entire life. Red beans and rice is a regular meal in my house.

WHO DAT????

I just pinched myself again to make sure yesterday was real. I have lots of pinch marks on my arm. :grin-square:
