Jump cues are a joke. Ask any really good player and I bet he will tell you the same... unless he is sponsored buy one, or if he doesn't kick that well.
Guy I give the last 6 and the break to can jump a ball when it's 3 inches behind the ball. lol.
So what? I can draw my ball two table lengths. That doesn't mean I have a chance in hell of beating you. You might as well say my pool cue is a joke because it draws the ball.
The reason you can give up the six and the break is because the guy doesn't have the skills to put it all together to beat you.
So the guy can make the cueball hop over another ball at three inches? I know people who can jump a chalk's width and they still can't run three balls. What does he do with the shot when he jumps? Does he know how to stop his rock, play jumps with side spin, with follow, judge the speed right? Or does he just hop and hope?
The point is that it's a SHOT.
Everything you have to do with a level shot is still there. You have to judge where and how you want to hit the object ball, what speed and spin to use AND on top of that what angle to use.
I don't care if someone is great at getting the ball to jump but has no clue how to control their rock. In fact, I welcome it.
I will take your bet and ask every known player I come across their opinion of jump cues at the SBE. I bet not every good player says the same thing.
How much would you like to bet?
I will bet you dinner that the jump cue is not a joke and that I can convince you of it if you stop by my booth.
