Tiny balls?

I hate this damn game!

So i was playing in a small 8-ball tourney a couple days ago and I go to rack the first game. The balls wouldn't rack right and I could tell right away something was wrong. I noticed almost instantly that the 2 ball was smaller than the rest of the balls. When I say smaller, I don't mean a bit smaller. This ball was at least 1/4" smaller, maybe more! (Wish I would have taken a picture) I can't imagine how that could happen. The balls were Centennials! The room I was at has very good equipment and is always having tourneys, so how was this tiny ball not discovered before?

Funny thing about it, i was not the first one playing on that table that night. I hope someone didn't bring this f'd up ball from home and switch it with the good one. That would be pretty messed up

Anyone come across something like this?

You expect a bunch of guys to answer a thread about tiny balls? LOL :D :D :D

I just put the small one in the back of the rack and make the best of it. What would be really bad is if you had a smaller OB stuck in on a table that is using the oversize cueball!

This ball was a little bigger than a golf ball. I couldn't put it in the back of the rack, it would drive me nuts the whole time. The guy at the counter switched it out, no problem. He was just as surprised as me.

I went to a pool hall which I swore had switched a regular cue ball with a bar box ball. They thought otherwise. I've also seen balls shrink from wear and tear. If the rack is correct and you snug them into the rack from the bottom and slide it across the felt, none of the balls should be rolling. If any of them do, they've gotten worn down.

1/4 inch though is nuts, that's something else entirely.

6 of the balls are numbered, but the colors are different. You said the 2 ball was smaller, in snooker the 2 is yellow. The 5 ball is blue though, did you look at the number or just know it was the 2 because it was blue?

That is what happens when you mix steroids and pool....the balls shrink!!

One of the places I play at has 6 12' tables and they have numbered balls the same size as snooker balls so you can play 8 ball on a 12 footer.

Funny you should ask, but I ain't a falling for this one. Trying to set the old Trampster up. Shame on you! Shame I say! :p

Take it as a complement, I do enjoy your imagination.

And now for NewStroke, another poster who cracks me up:lol:

People know I enjoy pool so I always have people giving me old pool balls for some reason.

I have a brown grocery sack full of old billiard and snooker balls.

It is really amazing to see all the different sizes and styles.

Well Cuebuddy, I couldn't take it any longer. Ken here stated talking about having an old brown sack full of balls and how amazing it was to see all the different sizes of balls and it got me to thinking how fixated we here at AZ are on balls. We are constantly playing with balls. Sometimes we play with our own balls and at other times we play with somebody elses balls and we obsess on how clean our balls must be before we begin playing with them. The next time I go out to the sanitarium I'm going to mention this problem to the resident psychiatrist. Oddly enough his name is Doctor Ball. ;)

Well said. Mine are filthy right now and if I ever get a day off I will go to town on them:p. 27 inch's of snow this week and still falling so having
" less then perfect balls " is acceptable.
