High Praise for John Schmidt - Player Review

oliver is a buddy of mine and as good or better than you know who.
i would much rather play him even though i think its a tougher game because win or lose hes a great guy.

so, maybe you want to talk to TAR about it or maybe Justin reads it. Anyway i think this match would be a really great to see !

John will probably not play even in a seperate room

This feels so much like a boxing promotion to me. I wish both of you would shut up and just play or leave each other alone.

I haven't gotten to meet you Danny but since you are in MO, I am sure i will someday. No matter who is right or wrong here, both of you are acting like 3 year olds IMO and unless it's just for hype so people buy the match, it needs to end. But what do I know?

I have not been playing any 14.1, the nits try to keep me out of most of their private club invitational tournaments. Elite players such as Mr. 400 are very vocal I'm sure in doing whatever they can politically to keep me out, the last time Mr. 400 and I played a race to four hundred in Straight Pool - he got pummeled (how ironic for Mr. 400.) This is the real reason why he cowards at the thought of competing against me, I promise the true 14.1 fans that the politics and wordly village idiots have not taken away my love for the game. I need only 1 month to prepare, 20 ball in hand break shots is fine for me also or as Jackie Gleason would say - How sweeet it is, you talk my kinda' talk John. There will have to be a guarantee that I get paid for showing up, the appearence fee is negotiable and a contract WILL be signed so John can't pull any moves (like cheating on the run while I am not there and all his golfin' buddies with trick Camera equip. etc.)I have reason to not put it past him believe me.

Yo John it's your move and I only need 1 month to prepare, are you a mouse or a man? This is a special invite from me, I like the way that sounds but I'm sure you don't, your worried more about your ego and or being on the recieving end of the humility of possible defeat from me. I am not one to sugar coat things, John most of the time conducts himself in a mannerly way but my experience with him and his attitude was negative. Two players can not be friends and still compete against each other as a matter of fact that is why I have trouble playing against one of my friends at a tournament. Again I am calling out as they say Mr. 400 to play 14.1, when I defeated him in the first Action all around challenge he asked for a rematch even though he threw chalk at me and did not apolagize for it at the time - I gave him one no questions asked. Our record now stands 1-1, I do not count some mondane 9 ball tourmnament in Reno where he beat me 11-9, my record against him in 14.1 is real good I can assure yall' of that fact.

He told me for the record - when I asked for a rematch to get a life or that he had a life and I did not, again I think John Shmidt's life involves crawling under a rock and or creating excuses to back down from a fight that does deserve to be settled. I allready now about him being dishonest but does anyone else think he is also a bit of a coward - I guess you can be a champion and a coward. But that is a strange combo in my view John. I'm not all talk folks - I will play my best against him if he decides to take me up on the challenge.

So it's on!

Look forward to seeing how this plays out. Best part of the thread for me was John mocking Danny for "only" running 280. That's badass.

See you at expo

my offer still stands i have two diamond nine footers at valley forge on wednesday night !!!!! Let me know !!!!

Two referees ball cleaner etc.

I'm pretty excited to see the possibility of a rematch look more realistic, but I hope this doesn't go down on Wednesday...

Then I'd have to take an extra two days off work just to sweat it! :-)

i got an idea

i have played in bob jewetts 14.1 challenge every year hes had it.
bob writes down every run that was taken.i believe i played 5 years in row and took 12 innings per year. so did danny .i propose we both take all the innings played add up total and whoever has high total wins 2000 from other guy. loser also has to donate 1000 to charity and is banned from azb.
the winner gets to pick the charity, the charity that i pick for harriman to give 1000 to if he loses is to a sex offender rehabilitation group lol.
another thing danny you keep woofing to play and saying im scared.i got a news flash for you im in fl your in mo so its not like we are in same room. even if we were you would cry i need a month to prepare etc.
ill be at expo ready to do the 20 innings game. if your not there ready to play then your the coward. later

LOL! but maybe it should go to the victims of sex offenders. IMHO you can't rehab these guys. that's why they invented the registry.

if this match takes place, i'll wager $300 on john. who's in? it's got to be the honor system. payments can be made through paypal. ;~)

No surprise here

I'm also going to bet on John.

pretty much everybody would bet on john i guess haha...hope it will be taped for us to watch though

So let the line begin

I will take the Underdog, surely Danny has to get odds on the money against Mr 400? 1-1 from what I ready. I could not stay awake and watch this match but I would bet on Danny H.

Ed Libby and I were discussing this thread tonight and Ed remembers being pummeled by Danny a decade or two ago when Danny was 15 years old. Every time I have seen Danny play he is SOLID. Have never seen JS play but I guess they do not call him Mr 400 for nothing.

With that said, Danny asked for a month. 4/5 would be a month.

A thread should begin in the action room once a date is set.

Yeah Facts are Facts

Sausage

Facts are facts, but laughing your ass off? That sure doesn't enhance my opinion of you.

Dave Nelson

So Danny was trapped by some 40 year old cougar in Tulsa? She probably changed her mind MIDSTREAM? You know show me yours and I will show you mine.

hey willie...

I had the privilege to spend some time recently with Mark Wilson (instructor from near St. Louis); and was quite surprised to hear what he had to say about John Schmidt (and I was so struck by his impression that I demanded permission to report this to the fanatics here).

Evidently John ran 170-something at Derby City, and was asked to do a player review of the tape with Mark as a co-commentator.

Now, for those that don't know Mark, he is a straight pool fanatic extraordinaire. He has dedicated his life to pool; but his greatest goals and accomplishments have always been single-mindedly focused on straight pool. As he developed his game, he was surrounded with old-school greats like Sailor Stellman (?sp?), Dallas West, Jerry Briesath, Nick Varner, and Steve Mizerak - players who have thousands of 100 ball runs, and were really a threat to run 100 any inning that they stepped to the table (a very select group of players).

Mark reported that he was totally surprised and impressed with John's knowledge of the intricacies of the game, and his super-professional approach to straight pool. The surprise centered around the multitude of insights that John offered into his strategies for maximizing his consistency and safety play, and on his super analytical approach to the game.

Too often, we hear the description of many of the modern 9-ball guns being "all shotmaking" and "no knowledge of strategy" when it comes to the almost lost art of old-school straight pool. According to Mark, John is certainly NOT one of those players (though obviously his shotmaking skills ARE champion caliber). Mark reports that John offered multiple tips and strategies that were simple for all players to follow, incredibly sensible and valuable, and THAT MARK HAD NEVER HEARD BEFORE FROM ANY OF THE WORLD BEATERS LISTED ABOVE. Maybe they knew but wouldn't say, maybe they knew but lacked the ability to describe it, maybe they didn't know....but John does. Extremely high praise considering Mark has been aggressively collecting straight pool tidbits from the greatest players in the world for 34 years.

Mark stated that my number one priority now as a straight pool student (and I AM a fanatic for those that don't know) is TO GET A STRAIGHT POOL LESSON FROM JOHN SCHMIDT. His knowledge and skill at this game far exceeds most; and he offers insights unavailable from any other "instructor" (gee, as I read this I have NO IDEA if he even gives lessons....that could be a problem).

If anyone is ever going to break 526, it seems John is the most likely candidate. It also seems that this player review Accu-Stats DVD is going to be a "must-have" for the members of this select forum (anyone know if it's out???). End of unabashed JS advertisement.

wow...

what a great post!

i didn't know who john was but bought a dvd from seyberts about 2 years ago when i started playing pool. i think i wore it out

then i got another directly from john [a different one] and i think i wore that one out too

and for the record, from folks i know in vegas, they all say only good things about john here as what a kind guy he is, how pleasant he is...

i guess it is due to my age [old that is] i find that i most enjoy [watching] 14.1 [as i can't play worth a lick]

again, thanks for your post willie

all the best,
smokey

LOL cmon john, stop it. Your jump cue move at the end of the 1 pocket leg saved you, lol won easy, quit it.

actually me running 9 that last 1hole game won it. then beating him 30-18 at 10ball really sealed the deal.also he gets out of the chair when im up like 170 to nothing and says the rack is low in the 14.1 and sharked me. he might have lost the 14.1 too and it would have been a clean sweep.

do you think him physically threatening me 2 weeks before the match was a move.

derec i thought you are sharp enough to read between the lines. maybe i said that to annoy him.
hey at least i know who your pulling for now if we play.the cats out of the bag.

Do not trust John Shmidt

The first time I played him in Louisville in our one pocket match he blatently tried to cheat me, I like this idea of the reviewing our match from the first TAR. I do not recall the score but I had made two balls and left them in the ball return (ball return Diamond table) - I had to use the rest room and forgot to put the two ball's I had made in my tray. While I was in the little boys room my sponsor came rushing in and said Danny John put those two balls that are yours in his tray. My friend has special sound equip. he says that when I returned you can hear John say watch this, I asked him about the two balls that were in question and he said he saw two balls and figured they were his. Again this guy will do anything to get the $, that is why special conditions must be set up to assure that he cannot produce a phony run while I am not there.

I do not have the dates on the expo, but the first thing to talk about is an appearence fee. The price went up from my end when John posted my past failures on this open forum. Before we were scheduled to play our 2nd challenge someone from the West Coast also donated the Mug shot photo, I would not doubt that John was insturemental in this alsoShame on you John for posting that and I hope everyone reviews the tape so they can see how weak you are when the going gets tough. You and I will never be friends and your to be pitied, all your past mistakes may not have become public knowledge as mine did but are on spiritual record and you will have to answer for them one day just as I will - (meditate on it.)

I am not currently playing any pool, but for the right appearence fee I will relocate where I can prepare, I am sure you and others from your camp wonder why God gave someone like me such talent. Well the feeling is mutual, I did not know that a player of his calibur would be so weak as to resort to cheating to win - and it's a fact that he did try to blatently cheat on more than one occasion.I have seen your West Coast swing John, this is why I feel I am the favorite (when I get prepared) anyone who is that weak will fold in the face of adversity and that makes me stronger. Anyone who has interest in seeing this seperate room challenge take place please pm me, again low praise for 'nitty shmidty'. Please let me know when about an appearence fee offer, I do need the full month to prepare as I do have respect for his game, I did not think he had the nerve to play me in the same TAR format but 14.1 only in a seperate room will do.

There would have to be a way of making sure he does not cheat, so contracts are in order and certain conditions on surveillance must be set to assure quality control. Let's let our cue's do the talking John, someone from John's camp may notify me if there is any real interest in this happening. I do not have big sponsors,(he gets paid for bein at the Expo I do not, I must be guaranteed to make $. I feel I'm owed that much after all the bull*^$! and lowclass tactics of Mr.400 or as I like to call him 'nitty schmidty' has pulled to save face.

Thanks for reading,

Good Day
