there's a new kid on the block guys! i've played with predators, ob's and some custom shafts and all i can say after 3 weeks of play is i'm sold on mikes new shaft! great work mike! got mine from the billiard warehouse, ask for greg. hope this helps for those of you who have been considering this shaft.

Thnx!

I saw Mike's new shaft just the other day and was curious to hear some feedback on it. Glad you like it, coincidentally this must have been quite and experience for Mike to produce. In the past he has been quite adamant about after market shafts and their effectiveness. Just goes to show that he is open to trying new technologies and his willingness to experiment to improve his products.

Whats so special about this shaft? Is it laminated? LD? Ferrule-less?
Is it made from the Tiger X Ultra Shaft?

ultra shaft reply

sorry i didn't go into details cause i know everybody has their own taste. i think it's 5 "pie shape" pieces, has a ferrule and it's not a tiger, and low deflection....low! what makes it special to me...now i said "me" is everything! feel, taper, playability, low deflection...even the sound...to me plays like a solid shaft with all the benefits of todays technology...this ain't no whimp! my confidence and game have gone up. now as i said, that's just me, not selling or pushing this on anyone... as i said, call greg at billiard warehouse....great guy and he'll be glad to answer any questions. hope this helped....?

Lambros Ultra Shaft

Hey there,

I bought the Lambros Ultra Shaft at the end of September and it's amazing.

This shaft is five pieces of wood put together like a pie. Each piece has 5 layers that are compressed. The 5 pie pieces are put together and each piece is self-supporting so the hit is unreal.

I have played with Predator Z2 shafts and this is nothing like it. There is no "shock absorber" which reduces the feel of the hit so when you hit the cue ball with a Lambros Ultra Shaft, you really hit the cue ball.

Here's the thread to my post from September.

Are they made to fit any cue or just Lambros?

Does anyone else answer the phone besides Greg at BW?????

lambros ultra shaft

hey,

the lambros ultra shaft can be ordered with whatever joint you have. you will need to specify what kind of cue you have along with the joint size.

mike said that the only cue he wouldn't do is something with quick release joints. other than that, he said that he could do any cue with some notice.

hope this helps.

Mike Lambros may have some copyright infringement issues to be concerned with regarding "Ultra-Shaft."

According to Mike, there's no copyright infringement. In fact, I believe he's submitting for a patent. The Ultra-shaft has nothing to do with a 5-piece pie, it's new technology that Mike has developed.

My feedback is --- I LOVE this shaft.

MiKE,,,,,,,,

I recently got a ''Lambros'' from Toneyboy, who in fact got it from ''Fast and loose'' [Marcus]....freakin blew me away how well it played,,,,,,I thanked both of 'em.

If you're attending the SBE, I believe Mike will have a booth set up,,,I'm sure he'll let anyone try one out,,,like Freddy 'The Beard'' would say.....''You can thank me later''...............Alan,,,,,,,,

Hey guys,

Is the shaft a pro taper or more conical and is there a set tip diameter like Predator or OB shafts? If the taper is pro how does it compare to the other boys in regards to stiffness? I see some of you have stated that it has pretty low deflection properties, any comparisons.

how long is the ferrule length?

. I've always been a fan of lambros cues and even bought a rare sneaky pete lambros that i eventually sold to a good friend of mine. h

e's won lots of money with it but he's a great shooter and he says he really likes the hit. Although he doesn't know anything about pool cues.

I'm curious about this new lambros low deflection shaft.

Sorry, I did not know Mike was in copyright, trademark, and patent law  LOL!

With so many things to call a product, no reason at all to call it the same as a similar product.

Mike can have this one for a free tester shaft... "The Lambros Optima-Shaft."

30" 3/8"-10 please

I was actually waiting for you to say this  seriously

Although it really is not my concern any longer, I just found it absurd and had to say something - LMAO!

I don't think Spidey or Mike know that Tiger's shaft is called the Ultra-X.

Maybe Mike can just call his shaft "Joss " - - it has a catchy ring to it.

Nice to see cue makers finally doing something to compete with the aftermarket laminated LD shafts instead of just rejecting them.

I doubt that has any weight. Mike has been using the word "Ultra" in his cues for YEARS. Ultra joint, etc.

I have played with a Lambros cue with his Ultra shaft and found it to be a fine playing shaft. Of course, that shaft was on one of Mike's cues. Personally, I found that compairing different builders shafts is pretty fruitless. Example; I picked up a OB1 somewhere along the way and tryed on several of my cues that shared the same joint configuration. It played differently on each butt (Black Boar, Esperitu, ect). I wasn't very impressed to tell you the truth. Then I tryed it on a buddy's Jacoby, WHAM!- one of the best playing cues I have ever hit, bar none!

With that being said, Mike is a world class builder and anything that comes out of his shop will be first class. I wouldn't hesitate to take his new shaft's for a whirl on one of my cues. Just might have to talk to him about that idea.
