BURTON SPAIN....personal player

That cue is GREAT Steve!!!

My God..............I tell ya what..................Illinois Billiard Club, Burton Spain, Joel Hercek, Jim Parker, Petersons Vanilla, that cue, and probably some piano music in the background while playing on their antique 5' x 10' table. The only possible thing missing in that pocket billiards fantasy evening is some beautiful woman sitting watching you play while run 150 and out!!!!!!

Mike

Mike, I am going to call Joel tomorrow. And ask him where the beautifull woman were? LOL

That is a very nice cue, an like said above it's nice to see a cue maker cue he made for himself.

why I didnt buy this cue when I had the chance I dont know, I had several chances. the more I look at it the more I like it, I had a very bad first impression, no I love the looks-Steve I know its doubtful but if you ever think of selling it please letme know. Or trade it I have some stuff you might like, no rush, no pressure. I just missed out. But I still enjoy it cause I know where ist at and well taken care of.

best
eric

Well, the IBC does have it's beautiful women, but this one might want to do a little more than just watch you play. She might want to put a 20, a 30 or a 50 on you as you sit and watch.

Say hello to Kristen Castaldo who played in our 14.1 league last session.

I never thought that I'll say this on this forum or on any other for that matter, but...

She is beautiful!

Burton Spain Remembered

I started playing pool & 3 cushion billiards when attending the University of Illinois in 1961. My first cue was a Brunswick "Willie Hoppe". In 1964 I met Herman Rambow in his shop on Walbash Ave. in Chicago, and he repaired one of the shafts on my Hoppe cue. In 1966 I had graduated, and finally purchased my Rambow cue. I believe he died a few years later. I played with it until ~ 1985, when I purchased my first of two Burton Spain cues (which I still use today).

When I visited Burton's home shop (on Division St. ?) to buy my second custom cue, I gave him my specifications (and desired model). He said I had just described his playing cue, which I bought on the spot at a discount. If Burton did this very often, he may have played with mostly new cues. He and I had the same high runs (10) in 3 cushion, but never had the opportunity of playing with him. He was a great guy.
