DC motor, lead screw, new tailstock and head stock racing stripes . . . cool!

Order now so that you'll be ready in the Fall. Last I checked, you would be about number 20 on the list. Good products are still in demand.

Man, that looks nice Chris. I don't care if it looks the same or not, I'll buy mine from Chris when I am ready. He offers some of the beat products out there, IMHO. The lathe overall looks to have all the right upgrades. Nice work.

Look VERY close at the mounting area.....how does a V-groove base mount on a dovetail? and the center height of the headstock is different than the center height of the tailstock. I have a deluxe now, and also have a MIcrolux lathe which takes this style of Tailstock. I have compared, and yes at a quick glance, it looks to be a easy conversion, but it's not at all. The base mount needs a total redo, and that is what Chris has done. It almost looks like the main casting is slightly modifided, but the camera pic isn't close enough to tell.
I could spend days trying to convert mine to the deluxe, but time is money and have better things to do than try to be a machinist and spend a lot of time on something that probably won't have the accuracy as the one Chris is now selling. I order it, I receive it, then I open the box, put on the dovetail, align with the headstock chuck, and in all of about 10 minutes, I will be drilling with it.

Regardless of where Chris got the idea from, it still looks like a heavy duty tailstock that will do the job. If this is what Chris was offering before, that was under wraps for a bit, I will be ordering one soon.

I see the difference ... one is red and the other is not.
(aside from the mounting adapters)

Is this thing still a big secret?
It is an improvement over the original one and a worthy upgrade.
Cant wait to get back home and put my equipment to use again.

> Maybe the plate he mounts the tailstock on has a v-groove "rib" on it,rather than taking the existing base and cutting it flat? That seems easier than trying to mill the base of the tailstock flat, chances are that operation may be awkward.

I can see this as an improvement as far as rigidity, but that lever-type is the nuts for hand-tapping,as long as you don't run out of travel.

I want BOTH. Tommy D.
