Joint Pin..No Glue ??!!

I have built cues without glued in joint pins. I have built cues that aquired issues for whatever reasons. I have ideas I want to try & I try them, but how do I know if it's good unless I send some cues out to be put to the test? More yet, how do I know if what I do is any good unless people tell me how it's working? I don't. As they say, no news is good news. So this builder may have been trying something different & he'll not hear a word, meaning it must have worked just fine. He'll be the last to know that he was bashed & rideculed on an online forum in front of the world, by another builder whom he likely doesn't know or has even heard of. There was a word in the first couple of lines of this thread that sums up the situation, "pathetic".

The golden rule rules us all and karma is a ***** to those who foul. Don't think for a minute your cues will never have an issue. Don't think for a minute your ideas sometimes turn out to be bad ones. How will you want to be dealt with as it happens? Will you want somebody to tell you that there was a problem so you can fix it & learn from it? Or would you want somebody to throw you under the public bus for the world to see you get trampled? "Pathetic" says a lot more than you intended for it to say. Only one thing has been revealed in this thread, and it's not the quality of a cuemaker's work.

I do agree with some of what you say in that we all try new ideas or techiques. The maker in question, which if I were to name them this would clear up alot of confusion, BUT thats not going to happen!!!! Im not trying to bash one cue maker. Simply that, if a maker goes into full scale mass production the quality can suffer if it is not controlled. Does this make sence or do I need to use smaller words? LOL My cues have had issues, although small, I proptly fix it or make it right, this was not offered by the maker to the person who came to me with this particular cue :). While as manwon has stated it is probably not intentional, I have seen quality go down the drain when cues go into mass production, its harder to control but it can be ! I have many many people who work under me, I will have a banquet for say 600 persons, and no matter what I will taste, oversee and make sure all dish's are to my standards. If something goes out and it is not up to par then I hear about it, not one of my cooks.

If you are going to put your name on something, make sure those you have working for you are capable and that your standards are met. Otherwise its your name that gets dinged, not one of your workers.

I dont see how I can express my intentions more clearly, I wouldnt want quality to suffer, along with my rep for a few more dollars. I have seen several "mass production" lately that were once of far better quality.

Hopefully this puts the right spin on this thread.

I dont believe in karma, I believe in GOD !

Opinions are like A*** everyone has one and at times it stinks, hopefully we can put this thread to bed as it has gotten off on a different slant.

What you say now isn't what you said in your first post. But that's ok as i'm not here to argue. The negativity just didn't sit right with me. As for God & karma, believe what you want. If I were a gambling man, i'd bet even God believes in karma........you reap what you sew ;)

All I saw in the OP's original post was jealousy, envy, and a complete lack of respect of his Elders.

Really ? Jealousy ? Envy ? I think once again what I said has been taken out of context.
Lesson learned, if I come across any other repairs I will just keep it to myself. Word of mouth from the actual owner will be the last word.

opinionss

You are entitled to your opinion.
You didn't mention his name, so no harm no foul.
I kinda agree, cuemaking should be a slow process and that wasn't a slow kind of mistake , but I'm new and maybe I don't know.

Accidents happen. I just re glued a bullet pin for a guy on a Poison cue.
Same thing happened. Untwisted the shaft and the pin came out.
There was glue on it. He took it to the billiard shop and the guy just reglued the pin in. The owner was wondering why the shaft kept lossening. You could see a 1/16th of light in between the joint. I drilled and tapped and put the pin in the the proper depth and the owner hasn't been back so I'm chalking that one up to the great epoxys we have available to us.

phone call

It could have been as simple as dry fitting a pin and the phone rang. when he comes back thinking about the phone call, he sees that the pin is installed and goes on to his next chore.

Opiniions

Opinions Vary, BUT
Why get on a guy so hard that contributes to this site so much. He clearly is a giver and agree not agree, a lighter attitude would be more productive in the long run. Can't believe some of the words you're labeling him with.
Really, he's not a bad guy. I've seen people screw AZ members out of a lot of money and got less hammering than he has gotten for saying what he thought.
