I have built cues without glued in joint pins. I have built cues that aquired issues for whatever reasons. I have ideas I want to try & I try them, but how do I know if it's good unless I send some cues out to be put to the test? More yet, how do I know if what I do is any good unless people tell me how it's working? I don't. As they say, no news is good news. So this builder may have been trying something different & he'll not hear a word, meaning it must have worked just fine. He'll be the last to know that he was bashed & rideculed on an online forum in front of the world, by another builder whom he likely doesn't know or has even heard of. There was a word in the first couple of lines of this thread that sums up the situation, "pathetic".
The golden rule rules us all and karma is a ***** to those who foul. Don't think for a minute your cues will never have an issue. Don't think for a minute your ideas sometimes turn out to be bad ones. How will you want to be dealt with as it happens? Will you want somebody to tell you that there was a problem so you can fix it & learn from it? Or would you want somebody to throw you under the public bus for the world to see you get trampled? "Pathetic" says a lot more than you intended for it to say. Only one thing has been revealed in this thread, and it's not the quality of a cuemaker's work.
I do agree with some of what you say in that we all try new ideas or techiques. The maker in question, which if I were to name them this would clear up alot of confusion, BUT thats not going to happen!!!! Im not trying to bash one cue maker. Simply that, if a maker goes into full scale mass production the quality can suffer if it is not controlled. Does this make sence or do I need to use smaller words? LOL My cues have had issues, although small, I proptly fix it or make it right, this was not offered by the maker to the person who came to me with this particular cue
If you are going to put your name on something, make sure those you have working for you are capable and that your standards are met. Otherwise its your name that gets dinged, not one of your workers.
I dont see how I can express my intentions more clearly, I wouldnt want quality to suffer, along with my rep for a few more dollars. I have seen several "mass production" lately that were once of far better quality.
Hopefully this puts the right spin on this thread.
I dont believe in karma, I believe in GOD !
Opinions are like A*** everyone has one and at times it stinks, hopefully we can put this thread to bed as it has gotten off on a different slant.
