Baloney or Miracle worker?

This company Phiten has some products that purport to be treated with titanium and that they can help athletes with muscle related problems.
Is this just another snipe hunt in the marsh or is this something that some of you have used and found beneficial?

You can click here to read about their technology or snakeoil.

thanks,
JoeyA

I would bet my last dollar there hasnt been a scientific study supporting their use. Remember when everyone was wearing the brass or copper things? Same thing im guessing-crap!

No myth. The snipe is the most unique running bird in Louisiana.
We take newbies snipe hunting in the marsh with nothing but a burlap sack and their wits.

Is DMSO a religious order or some horse liniment?
JoeyA

I thought my dad was the only man that used DMSO on humans. It works well for the muscle aches and pains. I don't think its approved for human use but that never bothered a "Good ol Boy":D

joey you do know that a snipe is a bird correct? it is a black colored bird with spots and long beak on it....we shoot them in texas and they are excellent to eat...no bs....look it up...mickey

It's a European and Asian bird Joey.. I think Ralph eats them, might be the cause of his superior mental edge...hmm didn't Efren do a commercial for Fried Snipe or was that pigs feet?

Energy/Fatigue Problems?

I don't know if JoeyA was referring to energy/fatigue problems or not but I waterski a lot and take L-Lysine (an amino acid) before a practice set. It gives me more energy and stamina.
P.S. I am also addicted to pool. Love my two passions!

Snipe and DMSO

First Snipe. There are Snipe, also called Woodcock. A very explosive bird when it flushes and it will take off in anything but a straight line. A hell of a test of wingshooting ability. Then there is the legendary snipe. This is a very tasty flightless nocturnal bird. They stick to low ground and will run in the bottoms of ditches when spooked. Usually five or more locals serve as beaters and the visitor gets the honor of standing in the bottom of the ditch holding a burlap sack between their legs to catch dozens, sometimes hundreds, of these tasty birds. My brother's place is overran with them right now and I'm offering guided hunts starting at $250 a night, guaranteed successful!

DMSO. An industrial solvent derived from a pine tree. Touch your skin with it and you can taste it in your mouth in a second or two. It is an absolutely fantastic carrier too. The dye or bleach in whatever you apply it with, the dye in your clothes, any soap residue, dirt or contaminants on your skin or anything that gets against it while the DMSO is there, you had just as soon load up a syringe and shoot a dose of everything that contacts you and the DMSO in your veins.

I had solvent grade and medical grade DMSO around for years. I quickly learned of the dangers and after the first few weeks never used it again. I mistrust the common solvent and lubricant WD-40 almost as much. WD-40 applied to popping knees will make them quit popping, horses or humans! Too much penetration for me.

:DAbsolutely! The snipe we have here in Louisiana has a long beak and likes to run along the marsh areas eat off the shore line and in the marsh. Sometimes initiations are perpetuated on newbies and such and they are supposed to gather the Snipe in the burlap sack as the snipe were herded to them by indivuals of the party. That was a long time ago. I'm sure the tradition is carried on by some fun loving bayou people.

Phiten

We had a Phiten store in Seattle when I lived there. I used to use their products for team sports. They worked well for me, noticable circulatory increase and less fatigue. They have a test they do in the store where you pick up a gallon of water and then they put one of their products around your arm and have you pick it up again, it seems to weigh less then half of what it did the first time. They carried some of the wristbands/ointments/stickers at Sports Autority. I don't know if it is mental or not but I had positive results instantly and still have some of their products in my medicine cabinet.

Joey, Phiten is snake oil. That doesn't mean it can't work, only that if it does work it isn't because it's balancing your bodies humors. It's because it's helping to kick start that most powerful of systems, the mind. My guess is that it would alleviate any pain in Bob Jewett's body or make him stronger but some folks could probably jump out of their wheelchairs after using it and break chains.
As far as weight seeming lighter after using it, consider this: if it had any effect, any effect whatsoever, there wouldn't be a powerlifter alive who didn't use this. How many times have you been in the gym and seen some monster doing sets and fail, only to have his spotter "remove" a plate and scream at him to get him to lift more? Heck, I've seen guys add weight and get the lifter to do more. Okay, I've done it myself.
DMSO (dimethylsufloxide) is an industrial solvent. I strongly recommend you don't use it on your body. It has the distinguishing characteristic of being absorbed almost immediately into your blood stream. In the 80s it was quite popular, as were things such as massive vitamin B injections (prior to bodybuilders OD'ing on B-complex vitamins we believed that it was impossible, since they are water soluble) and other foolhardy practices (now we have a whole host of new foolhardy practices).
Some people would administer analgesics via DMSO. By crushing say, an aspiring, then dabbing it onto the affected area with a DMSO dampened Q-tip immediate relief would be afforded (at a cost of having your liver metaphorically kicked in its ass). There was an episode of Quincy, ME wherein a guy was poisoned by having deadly snake venom mixed with DMSO applied to his steering wheel. As farfetched as it was, I'm pretty sure you could knock off someone in my small town this way and never get caught...

dave...and don't forget about the "magnet" craze a few years ago (I tried them)! Also baloney, imo (although, like everything, some people swear by them!).

Kai, no disrepect but you need to start wearing them again. The bags under your eyes are terrible!
