The "Holy Grail" of cue cases! I'm Smiling!

I dont want to say, this the wrong wayPLEASE DONT BE OFFENDED, but are those legit Fellinis from back in the day? or are they refinished refurbished cases? I have never ever seen any Fellini case even come close to looking this new/good/beatiful.

Those two cases are beyond amazing even if they were built today by any case maker, but the fact they are Fellinis that look like that is just hard for me to believe.

One hell of a pair of cases Doug, I have never seen stronger cases than these on this site ever, I'm not knocking some amazing cases I have seen here, man this is something else. its just hard to believe.

Hey Eric, thanks for the compliments and inquiries. I have had many cases (and still have a few) and can tell you one thing for sure, the cases are definitely old. The gentleman that owned them said he had them for around twenty years and that they were several years old when he got them. The question really is, who did the tooling and braiding? I can say that the cases are two of the most unique cases that I have ever seen and were definitely done by a true artisan. The fact that they don't have an actual seam and have the leather braiding makes them very, very special in my book. I would love to know the whole story behind them, but for now I'm just going to be happy they're in my safe. I appreciate all the compliments and comments and would welcome anyone to share anything that they may know about these cases.

Thanks,

Doug

Fellini

Beautiful cases Doug. Really unique designs and incredible tooling. I was just talking to the manager at my near by Tandy leather store and he is very familiar with Anne Gore.. supposedly she was from Menlo Park which is not too far from me. He said that she would ofter write leather crafting articles for Tandy. And I think that Bob Hemphil is still around in the bay area as well. San Francisco is what I heard. I will definitely ask around the leather crafters circle and see if anyone has a lead. Be great for us pool fans to have access to some history.

Again, congrats on the beautiful pickups!

I was wondering the same thing Eric. Are they rebuilt or original?.... and I too hope my question isn't taken as questioning ones integrity. I'm just as astounded as Eric. Blown away.

What is the history of these cases.

Incredible, mind blowing cases Doug! As Guy said, they are right where they need to be.

Hi Jim,

I had the same questions!

People should not get upset about fellow enthusiast being inquisitive about products, builders, history and originality.

Whatever the origin, builder or re-builder those cases are beautiful.

Nice.

Those are very nice, I just don't see the vintage patina in the leather to support those being original Fellini cases. And honestly doubt that they are. They are pretty cool, but the holly grail? uh uh!

How's this look for patina. You are a true nit and it's people like you that have motivated me not to post much anymore. The cases are definitely old and I really don't need your approval to tell me so. I asked for info if people had it and am open to that, but babble really doesn't help anything. I have spoken to Bob personally about these cases and I do know some of the history, but would like to know for sure who did the tooling. By the way it's Holy, not Holly, it's not christmas yet.

Doug, I really appreciate you showing off these two beautiful cases. The patina looks nice to me also. Please don't ever stop posting your beautiful new billiard finds. They really compliment your fine case collection nicely. thanks and congrats, "country" Bob

After opening the thread and looking at the first few pictures, I was thinking, "interesting cases, wonder why Doug considers them the 'holy grail'". Then I saw the first Fellini tag and went

Two words, Doug: HOLY <insert improper expletive here>!!!!

Super find and like Guy and others said above, they are joining a spectacular collection.
