Cue maker's other hobbies

Thought all you makers out there would like to share what you do when not in the shop. Hope this is okay with every one.
As many know, my health has been not so good lately, this is what passes my time some times when I am not in the shop or not able to be in the shop.
What are your past times or things you like to do? As you can see, I like to draw a little. Old habit from high school that has stuck with me. I enjoy it and helps me relax.
Thanx,
Jim Lee

Well Jim, I don't have your artistic abilities. Cue building is my hobby. This is what relaxes me and sometimes frustrates me to no end. If I am artistic outside of cue building, then I would say, that it is the machines that I build and the g-code programs that I have written. These are directly related to my cue building though so I am not sure if they count.

I've had hobbies that turned into part time jobs. I designed watch & clock movements for the Westclox Company, for a living. Since I was 16 yrs old I pinstripped show cars as a hobby. That turned into sign painting (17 yrs). Then my hobby was repairing cues & that turned into cue making. I used to be a good tennis player & I restrung racquets. My wife says if I take up bowling, I'll probably want to buy a bowling ally. I guess I get overwhelmed by my HOBBIES...JER

I tend to get consumed in whatever hobby I am into. Before cues it was restoring muscle cars. Before muscle cars it was shooting pool.

I love dirt track racing (super late models) I gave up a good paying Friday night job running a tourney so I could go to the tracks everywhere in the southeast. I grew up working on dirt track cars my dad built but he quit after he saw me at 15 climbing in the cars to warm them up on the track before hot laps, I wonder if mom had a say in that ? Anyway I'm alive so Happy Moms day to my mom and yours.--Leonard

When hobbys turn to work, they become no fun. I was driveing truck in the "60s, another driver had a stock car, with no motor , I volenteered to take all the blown motors and build him a motor, which went faster than any of the others, and lasted the rest of the yr. Then the owner of the trucking co. asked me to help out on his race car, while still driveing truck, that led into a full time job working on his indy Cars, he had 2 at Indy in '70 , never made the program with either , but ended up running the Trail races for another 6 yrs. He also got a Camero for road racing and Nascar sportsman and a Grand National Pontiac Grand Am . The Camero won N.Pacific Champ. 2 yrs in a row, never won anything with the stock Cars . In the 90's I built 3 Cobra kit cars , as a hobby, that was fun work. I quit working as a machanic for Ford, in '65 becouse I did not like being a machanic. Now I don't even check the oil, just Drive !!!......RECLINERING NOW MY 2ED FAVORITE SPORT

For a third of the year, my full time job and part time hobby are the same thing. I work all week in the shop and then work local tournaments. The rest of the year, I hunt and fish.

Sheldon,
I had identical pics back in the days of the DiamondBack, Redline, Hutch, and the PK Ripper... many moons ago. For the last 10 years though, it's been pool and poker, and more pool, and more poker.

Fishing

Ryan, those crappie look delicious. I can never catch enough to make a meal around here. Where did you catch 'em?

Here is a nice bass I caught at the golf course run off pond by my house. I caught one a little bigger but I didn't have my phone to take a pic. Not a "the one that got away" fish story I swear:D

I was riding back then too! Took about 15 years off, and picked it back up in about 2004.
