It's the NUTS! Chuck Starkey has to be one of the most under rated cue makers in the country. He just makes one magnificent hitting cue after another, and his pricing is right there with the production stuff that doesn't begin to compare in quality or playability.

This new cue is made from an original Titlist butt, with part of Willie Hoppe's name still visible. The joint, butt cap and ferrule is made from white elk antler. Too cool for school, and much like ivory without evoking the negativity that surround ivory. Did I say this cue hits good! Chuck knows something about making a good hitting cue that only a handful of cue makers know about. And most of those guys are charging premium prices. He calls this one his "Smooth Stroker" and it is. No power needed here, just deliver a smooth stroke and the cue does the rest.

The photos I took are too big to fit on here, but if you'd like to see them just e-mail me. jayhelfert@yahoo.com

Wow...

You have one of Willie Hoppe's own cues??!!

Jay...get yourself a free photobucket account...then it doesn't matter how big your pics are, you just add the direct link to your posts, and wa la! Otherwise, you'll just give yourself a headache trying to make them fit within AZ's parameters.

It's easy Jay. You don't need photo bucket. It's on your computer. Send your photos to documents. Once they're in documents, right click on the photo, then click open with paint, then click "resize" ... resize to 25% and they are perfect for posting here or anywhere else. Save them for as long as you want in documents. When you don't need or want them anymore... delete them.

Very nice, not many titlist can good candidates for wrapless conversion nowadays since the pickings are slim. Nice one!

Jay, I have had my Starkey cue for over a year now and it is really great. Mine has no ferrel and is made out of 100 year old dark rosewood and I still love it. Yours looks awesome!

Super nice Titleist conversion Jay! Congratulations on the new Starkey.

You are right Jay, Chuck makes a very nice cue. I have a Titlist conversion I use for a break cue and a custom wrapless no point for a playing cue. To me that big wood pin gives them the hit of a one piece cue.

Hi Jay,

Is that Titlist new from Chuck?

I used to own one just like that!!

It did play great, enjoy it buddy.

Russ...

jay, did you get a shaft with that parabolic taper that Chuck does ? I have one too, but have to send back to chuck to get a wood maintenance joint protector so that I can spin the shaft on a lathe. I've been planning a new micarta ferrule for the thing. Anyway, enough of mine. Nice blank! VERY beautiful points. I know, we can have a contest. Shine a light on my head and yours and who ever can see their head brightest in the butt of that cue takes it home! hahaha. Poor excuse for a joke, I know. Hope all is well with you.

btw, you goin to West London for the cup ?

Regards,
tim
