Just name ONE player that you think has the most powerful stroke ever in the history of pool. I would love to see Jay, Billy, Grady, Keith, and any one else who has been around the game for a long time chime in here.

Lets just keep it at pool, because personally if it were just all cue sports I would say pick a 3-cushion player and you win.

Joe "Ponytail Joe" Depascal from Pasadena, Maryland.

Nobody and I really mean nobody breaks like that man does. It's monstrous. He makes Vince's break in Color of Money look pathetic. Everyone in pool league was always amazed by how hard he broke and nobody could imitate it.

Surely some of the MD players here know Joe? Chime in?

Nevel, massey and Mizerak were the most powerful i ever saw.

But if I can name only one it would be larry!

You pretty well nailed it here Jason. I'm glad you included Mizerak though. I never saw another straight pool player who could make the cue ball plow through the pack like Steve. That cue ball kept churning and churning until it went all the way through. It looked like it had a little motor in it. :)

HI all,

im wondering a bit how to choose here one person. For sure i agree 100% that Steve Mizerak ve had a amazing technique and a wonderful stroke. But in my opinion there are many many other players with a amazing stroke. And further- if you re pickin just one of the top artistique billiards players......no matter if Carom or Pool, they re all able to do each shot with the necessary power and accouracy.

Anyway it s sometimes hard to talk about *powerful stroke*. It s just how *repeatable* it is- then it is successful. Here could be named almost each player who won a big title.
But ok, my 2 cts also :)

Sigel, Rempe, Mizerak, Reyes - all players with amazing stroke-abilities.

Most powerful Strok

What about the guy "Superstroke" Bruce Christiansen? sp I never saw him play maybe Jay or some of these antiques did.

"Superstroke" was all hype and no game. I'm one antique that knew the guy. He couldn't beat Tom Thumb! Even you have a better stroke then him.

buddy hall and mike massey

I don't think I'd put Buddy in a powerful stroke list. In my opinion Buddy has the most beautiful stroke that produces so much with such little effort. Watching him play is a joy beyond what words can describe. But powerful? I don't think so.

I'll sit with you about Mike Massey though. He's got a monster stroke when he lets it out.
MULLY

If we can toss in a 3C player I gotta put Semih Sayginer on my list.

I've seen both Massey and Nevel and it's very difficult to really choose who has the stronger stroke. I think Massey from 10-15 years ago was beyond what Larry can do now. Mike's hands are enormously strong, and it aides his stroke. However, he is not quite as strong as he used to be. But after those two, there are hundreds who are right at about the same strength.

Harold

For sheer, raw power in all depts., I couldnt take anybody but Harold Worst.
In straight pool, 40 or 50 yrs ago, Geo Fels used to describe Jimmy Moore's cue ball advancing thru the 14.1 stack, like a Panzer division roaring thru the Maginot line. Most of todays draw trick shots were initiated by Jimmy Moore.

I've heard the same thing about Harold Worst, Beard. I can only go off of players who I've had the fortune of seeing first hand however. If his stroke was more powerful than Mike or Larry's, it was something to behold, that's for damned sure.
