Rug under table ???

My room echo's and i bought a rug to be placed under the table. Do i need a table mechanic to take it down and reassemble it so i can get the rug under it or is there another way.
Appreciate any thoughts some of you may have on this.

if you got the room, I've heard of people jacking it up and putting it on wheels to move it and replace... or just wait until your gonna replace the felt.
 
Might be able to jack it up with a car jack and some 2x4's.

Or invite your friends over for "Pizza night"
 
I have also seen some people get under the table and lift it up using their back and shoulders one side at a time. You need extremely strong shoulder and thigh muscles to do it, but it beats taking the table down I guess! Asked if I'd do it? Probably not, I'd get the kids to do it:)

It's not hard installing a rug under the legs of a table, but whether or not it's easy to lift your table one end at a time and set it back in place, then re-level the frame again....depends on what kind of table you have, and if the seams of the slates were glued together or not when the table was first set up;)

I did this myself lifting the table one side at a time using a car jack and sliding the rug under it carefully. Proper measuring and planning are a must to achieve good centering. The table will probably need to be re-leveled afterwards.
I am not suggesting you do it this way, just stating I did it using a car jack. I guess the best bet is consulting a good table mechanic.

Also, to avoid echo you might need to install acoustic tiles (studio foam) on the walls, or sofas / couches, curtains... If the walls are bare they will echo or ring too.

You could cut out the carpet so that the leg bottoms are NOT disturbed, then piece it in underneath or leave it open. Or there are tiles that are made from different materials that could work out. I remember Weenie Beenie and George DeVallie (sp may be wrong on DeV) had a room and used fiberglass type tiles that actually had a hairy/fuzzy type layer on the up side. I've also seen rubber tiles. Good luck.
 
Thanks for all the responses. i thought of lifting it with a car jack but i am going to call a local mechanic and ask what he thinks and how much.
 
My STRONG advice is to NOT do this yourself. Just hire the table mechanic to come and do it or risk table damage. At best the slates come loose and have to be releveled.
