Suggestion or moving my table?

I am moving in the next few months, and placing all of my stuff in storage. I need to move my 9' Pro-Am out of my basement but the only cart I have at my disposal is about 3' long, 2' wide, and the wheels don't pivot.

It is the same cart I moved the table into the basement with, but that was a HUGE pain the ass!

Does anyone have any suggestions on a cheap cart (or something similar) that could make the job easier? I am almost ready to just pay someone to move it for me.

Pay someone.That table weighs over 1300lbs. Diamond has a special cart that makes it easy,but not many have them.

I am leaning that way. It was scary as hell getting it down the hill to my basement door, we thought it was going to take off ito the woods.

How much do you think it would cost someone to load it and move it to a storage facility? I'm sure it varies, just looking for a ballpark estimate.
 
you have to take it apart anyway why not just take it in pieces by hand. i've done a couple installs with a friend of mine and it's a little heavy but not all that big a deal.

as long as it's not a 2 inch slate just move it by hand with a friend

It's one piece slate. Heavier than you might think.

oh i didn't realize that it was a 1 piece slate. i'd go ahead and go the pay to have it moved route too now that you said that!

an ounce of prevention and all that stuff, ya know! think of it as paying to avoid an injury. medical bills are a SOB

Exactly right. I don't want to take it apart any more than just popping the legs off. Easier to set back up.
 
It may be better to try to sell it instead all the moving that will be required. When you get into your new place get another one. Could save a lot of headaches and excess fees. Plus you will have a newer table that may have the next generation rails that are gpbeing discussed.

I posted it for sale here for that exact reason. I am not hurting for money at all, and people only want to lowball me cause they think I need the money.

If someone would move it, I'd let them get a good deal on it. I am already going to rent a large, temperature controlled storage facility for the rest of my things, so it's not going to cost me any extra to stre the table.

Any Diamond dealers travelling through Virginia in the near future and want a nice table????:thumbup:

Pay someone that has the knowledge, a business license & insurance to move a pool table.

Accidents happen, you want to be ready for that.

Besides, saving $500.00 might cost you a back injury, that you'll have to live with forever.

Sometimes it's worth th expense. This is one of those times.

When I bought my Diamond 9 footer a few years back, I decided not to get the one piece slate for this very reason.

Call Diamond and see when they may be delievering pool tables to the East Coast. They could pick up your table, move it, and reassemble it if you timed it right.

There is a guy I used in Roanoke to assemble my Brunswick at Smith Mountain Lake. He used to put tables up for CMT Sports in Roanoke, but they went out of business I heard. He has years of experience and is cheap, relatively speaking. If you can't find anyone, PM me and I will go try and find his business card.

If I have to move again, I am leaving my Diamond in the barn and buying a new Diamond. The other poster had the right idea about the new fangled rails.

I figured I wuld be in that house for a while. My new job sends me around the country where I stay in one location for 3-9 months and then move me somewhere else. It's the perfect opportunity for my wife to quit her job, sell the house, and her and the baby (who I have seen exactly four times since she was born in June) can travel around with me!

It's totally moveable with a few buddies, a truck, and a cart, but there has got to be an easier way!

Are you thinking of Ray Denamore (sp??). I think he has done a lot of table moving around Roanoke. He is the one who delivered the table to my house.
