What a dominant show of 14.1 in the finals against Mika. With runs of 84 and 102 Oliver wins his third 14.1 title and is now the ONLY Euro to have this distinction. It was VERY emotional after the match as Olivers Mom is ill and you could tell He put EVERYTHING into winning this event.

Well done Dragon promotions, and all the players who participated. As usual Danny D, and John Bender did fantastic in the booth.

What a super week of straight pool.....

Congratulations to the winner. Let's thank Dragon Promotions and Breakers pool room for sponsoring the event. I heard that they re-felt all the tables right before this event. Anyone in Northern Jersey looking for tournament condition tables to practice, I would recommend this place.
 
Nice to hear next year's event dates have already been set for August and it is moving out of a pool hall and into the Hyatt. Might have to make the trip out there.
 
I am so thrilled that Oliver Ortmann won it AGAIN!

Add in his previous World 14.1 Championship, 2 U.S. Open 14.1 Championships, his 5 European 14.1 Championships, his 10 German 14.1 Championships, his World 9 Ball Championship, plus a slew of other European and German championships and it's easy to say he's the best 14.1 player of the last 20 years.

when i first got hooked on this sport it was mainly due to a ESPN match at the Challenge of the Champions between Oliver and Kung Fang Lee. Oliver had a bad night during this match, but that was the match and video that i watched alot. Oliver and Earl are my two favorite men players to watch.

That final was excellent. The lowest run in the match was a 14, but that's because it was a 14 and out.

Outside of that, 84, 102 for Oliver. And a 61 from Mika which is excellent considering he effectively sat out 186 balls.

Actually, Mika had three innings:
1. He made a tough first shot after Ortmann's opening break, but the cue ball glanced off the side of the pack, hit the foot rail, and went all the way back into a corner pocket at the head of the table. Score: negative one.
2. He missed a fairly long, straight shot diagonally across the table toward a corner pocket at the head of the table. Score: still negative one.
3. He ran 62 and missed. Final score: 61.
 
Congrats Mr Ortmann. You are a class act and deserving champion. (Not that Mika wouldn't have been).
