US Open Brackets Posted

It is late and I am not going to write up a story for the front page until tomorrow. Matches begin at 11am EST. Brackets are online at usopen.azbilliards.com

I noticed that Shannon Daulton, Oliver Ortmann, Thomas Engert, Kim Davenport, Marlon Manalo, Chia-Ching Wu, Ching Shun Yang, Po-Chen Kuo, Buddy Hall, Grady Mathews, Rudolfo Luat, Leonardo Andam, Danny Harriman, Larry Nevel, Dennis Hatch, Fabio Petroni, Jeff DeLuna and none of the Japanese are players are entered this year.

I'm glad that Mike Sigel is playing. It'll be interesting to see how far he goes. There's a possibility that him and Earl may end up playing each other, since they're in the same bracket.

This still should be a very exciting week.
 
There's interesting pair of matches in the first bracket:

Shane Van Boening vs. Mike Dechaine
Lo Li-Wen vs. Michael Badsteubner

The winners meet on the winner's first round. Now, SVB and Mike Dechaine you all know. But just to remind that Lo Li-Wen was the runner-up in the US Open 10-ball tournament, losing on the hill to Lee Van. I don't personally recognize Badsteubner, but he's in for an incredible ride.

Shannon Daulton is one of my fav. players to watch, any particular reason why he isn't playing in this US Open ? if somebody knows him, can you tell us please, thanks.
 
Shannon's running his tour in Conyers, GA right now. I think he mentioned at the DCC it was a money proposition. Entry is $600 then you have travel, hotel and food. He has to lay out a lot to make this happen, but he can get a tournament setup on his tour which generates automatic revenue. Of course he could finish high in the Open, to cover the costs, but I think he breaks down the intail costs and runs his touney to make guaranteed money. However, he does go to the DCC but I think this is a little different since he's favored to do very well in the Banks, plus the other events.

Does anyone know if there's a place to find the dates and tmes for matches? My group won't arrive until Thurs' session at 11am or 1pm, and I fear we'll miss more than half the players including (with all due respect) most of the women. I'm guessing there's at least 64 left come Thurs, but hopefully more like 96...

How much of the field remains come Thurs morning?
 
Thanks for fixing that link for me. It was late when I posted that and I was fading fast after 2 1/2 hours of bracket work.

Matches start in about 10 minutes.

I didn't see Varner there. Did I miss him?

Busta and Putnam is an interesting first round match.

As always, the farther along you get in the brackets, the more exciting it becomes.

Yea, Varner plays Bill Dunsmore
 
Tony Robles is also absent. I was told it had something to do with a league he runs. I knew he ran a tour like Shannon but not a league.

LOL, my favorite first round match up is Scott Frost & Michael Wong. Wong is the slowest player on earth and I have a feeling he is going to put Frost on tilt. I wish I was there to watch how Frost reacts to Wong.
