Wasn't there a tournament in the last several years in which someone was down 10-0, and came back and won 11-10? I wanna say it was Reyes maybe? Anyone remember?

Thanks,

I watched an Accustats video that had Nick Varner coming back from way down to win against Mike Segal..

I am not sure if it was 10-0 but if it was not....it was real close to that.

Yes, my understanding is that it was Efren coming back against Allen Hopkins and I am almost certain it was at the Super Billiards Expo.

Varner was down 9-2 and won 11-10.

Was that the match where Varner missed and left the final 9 ball and cueball frozen and sigel just knocked it off the table in frustration?

Yep, that's the match. I think it was a semi-final winner's side match at the 1990 U.S. Open, where Varner went on to win his second straight Open title.

The wing ball went in 21 out of 21 times on the break in that match. Sigel was understandably frustrated when Varner missed but left the cueball and 9 ball tied up, but he should have found something better to do.

I thought that was at the Bicycle.
Varner missed the 9 where it was like a foot from the side pocket iirc.

Ko Pin Yi was down 14-4 in a race to 15 in the FINALS of a tournament against Dennis Orcullo, and he ran 10 racks and out to win the match. It's on Youtube, if you can bear to watch a match with the camera zoomed in a little too much.

For the Record

My uncle sponsored Mike Sigel for a few years, I got to meet Mike a few time's and I Brought that match up and this is how the coversation went.

ME>>>>>Hey Mike, That match you had with Varner at the 90' US open were he missed and froze the cue ball to the 9 ball, Well I got to ask you.....

Mike cut's me off.......Mike>>>>You're going to ask why I didn't play safe.....

I cut Mike Off.......Me>>>>>>>No, Not my place to question you, I want to know how you felt the moment the balls froze together......

I won't go into the specifics on the rest you can guess.

But......He did say he didn't blast at it out of anger, It was his best option, He didn't feel he could play a "Real" safty against Nick, and the only way he could get the 9 ball and the cue ball to safe positions was to PUSH through the cue ball which would have been a foul. SO FRAM IT.
