Just wondering what the "correct" shot is in this situation. You have the pocket nearest the cueball, and you need both balls.

I guess you gotta bank the 2 straight up/ down and *not* leave it on the bottom rail. CB to (read: on ) side or top rail, close to upper r) pocket.

Could prob do the 6 bank too, though then you havr to hit it better + CB has to go to side rail...and not bump heads w/ 6 too. I do like the cb closer to center of head rail though.

Hero says 3 rail the 6 and slo-roll 2 in from end rail after, but I always get the double kiss on the first part of that.:o

I thought about banking the 2 straight down, but I didn't feel like the speed was on to get the cueball back across, which, depending on where the deuce landed, might have left a free bank on the 6. I seriously considered the hero shot, but I just don't hit those 3-railers very well... not enough 1p experience I guess. In the end I just laid the 2 on the 6 and floated whitey over to the opposite long rail near the side pocket. But I hated it, and I thought I was missing a much better shot.

2 rail the 2 with good speed and hold the CB with outside right for 3 railin the 6

there are some pretty "easy" ways to figure the shoot for the 2 & 3 railers......tho as usual the system don't tell ya everything ya got to feel lorettas route some what ya know.

and your catching DK's on the 3railers like above cuz you can't see the pocket your shooting towards.....the OB is full covering it.....just like you get DK's on singles in that scenario so it is with many mulits

I think the three railer on the 6 is a bit of a flier (maybe even a double kiss) and I don't like how the speed sits from that angle to complete the shot.

I think I'd shoot the straight back on the two. Kind of snap stroke it with left follow english (hard to explain, easier to feel) so it hits the 2 with a sort of pop (not crazy hard) and aim for the first diamond on the short rail and let the english take it back toward your pocket and letting the english on the CB slow the cue off the other long rail . Play a lot of CB and be sure to get it past the other side pocket.

I could be wrong, but that's what came to my mind. :)

Here's what I'd try..

Disclaimer, I am an avid One Pocket player by desire, but not by ability.. :) This is just my opinion and may not be taken seriously by a "REAL" 1P player..

In this situation I'd probably lose the game because I've been know to sell out on shots like this.. What I'd like to do is, play the 2 off of the end rail back into the six with speed. Pull the cueball to the side rail by my opponents pocket, as close to his corner as possible without leaving him a two railer on either ball. Hoping the end result would be this..

That 2 railer is no friggin good at all!!

Interesting thought on the recognizing the DK. So, if the OB is blocking the CB's path to the pocket- the bottom r) one in the pic- then the DK is generally on? Is that what you mean?

I did not know that about the 3 railers and the Double Kiss.. Thanks for the info GG..

I like your first option the best. The easiest and safest shot to shoot at. In One Pocket often you must be patient and wait for the right opportunity. Let your opponent make the first mistake.

Thanks for the nod...!

I tried to convey the importance of leaving OB ball in a place that makes it more than a bunt. If the OB sits on the bottom rail then there is a good chance the shot is no good. A good player puts OB where it is makeable from anywhaere...which means it must be moved.

I probably would have tried something like this, focusing on the cueball position mostly.

But either way, you are just moving balls around and trying not to sell out.

I'd be inclined to shoot the 2B up & down & leave the CB around the upper-left corner pocket...but that 6B is giving me heartburn. He only needs ONE & if you don't get the 2B close...he can have a FREE BANK at the win.

Yeah, I think I just need to become more comfortable with my speed on banks. I was skeert!

Hi Aaron -

I three rail the 6. I miss the kiss by playing the cue ball at the 1st diamond on the long rail by the upper right pocket. I use to pass up this shot until I took note of how the top players were beating the kiss. This is a winning position for you.

imho,

Do you use outside to keep whitey close to the head rail, or inside to get closer to the 2-ball?

Aaron

Three rail the 6ball with low inside semi-draw on the cueball, leave the cue uptable and put your opponent to the test.

I play it with inside - I am playing to win the game with this shot but my focus is making the 6 ball and not getting the kiss (the kiss comes from putting too much draw on the cue ball).

Cool, thanks for the tip!
