Seen to many posts in this section from people that don't have a clue what they're talking about. Thankfully the forum members IN the trade do a fairly good job of policing most of the bs. If you're not in the business of pool tables and only have an arms length or youtube familiarity with tables, cloth and table parts then don't complain when you get flamed.

My hat is off to members that start a post with "I'm not a mechanic but in my opinion..." or words to that effect.

If one of the members listed below responds in a thread you can have reasonable assurance of getting a qualified answer to your question. These are people that move, install, service and sell tables and parts and know what they're talking about.

Think it's time for those of us that have been here a while to start turning up the flames on some of the poor advice posts we've been seeing. Where's LCCS when we need him.

I only BS when I know I can get away with it, and then it is usually outstanding BS. I've only posted once in this section and it was advice that pertained to buying a used table.

Agreeing with the dumbass post about furniture style tables didn't earn any points but nice Gold Crown even tho it's beyond the guys price range.

A nice playing furniture style table would probably be further out of his range than either of the TWO GC's I linked him to. Considering they play in a league, it is unlikely they would see any of those either in practice. It should also be pointed out that, all things being perfectly equal, a bar box would help his league play as cluster and safety play is quite different.

He seems to have been waiting awhile so I am suggesting he be patient. By doing so he can continue to save and get the best value for his money.

If inferring I was a dumbass somehow helps this gentleman in anyway then so be it.

I certainly didn't mean to step on any toes and apologize if I did.

No Rob, you can't go on that list of Rick's until you become a "yes" man...because in the last pictures of your work I saw....you were a "NO" man....because unlike everyone else...."NO" you CAN'T use a belt-sander....and all "YES" men can...so, I'd say you'd have to re-apply with new pictures of some belt-sanding work that qualifies you to be a "YES" man..."YES"....you can now use a belt-sander because if I were the "police" in the mechanics industry....I'd have wrote you a ticket for "SWD"....:grin:....OH...that stands for "Sanding while DRUNK"...:grin:
