I'd go with route 2 as well. But I know why you're asking this question! This is a barbox, most likely with a heavy/magnetic cue ball that's not easy for many players to draw -- thus the likelihood of scratching in the side is commonplace. The trick is a level cue and a firm/authoritative stroke. On some tables (namely the Dynamo tables with the Aramith Red Dot Dynamo heavyweight cue ball), you really have to smack the p!ss out of the ball to draw it.

Which route do you take?I feel that 2 is the easiest but 1 is the safest
and the correct path for me.
