ones that got away
I wish I had all the cues that got away just as everyone else on the forum.
That Schick I got in 77 or 78 from Billy at Guys and Dolls in Shreveport, it was just a 4 point with veneers but it hit great. Some one else wanted it more than me and I let it go, not knowing that cues that hit perfect for you come along seldom. A monster Richard Black in Alsaka in 78 that I traded for some gold nuggets wish I had either now. I think it was like 8 oz of gold, what is that worth now? In 1980 I got a fancy Szamboti at Cassidy's in Houston from a player that got broke. Ebony and Ivory windows it is now in the Blue Book of Cues 3rd edition. He didn't have the money to get it back but thought I did not want to get stuck with it so he paid me out and got it back. He was right I did not want to get stuck with a cue that I really did not like the shaft on. Boy was I stupid he would have just as well let me keep it. I got a Southwest in 88 I think but did not like the way it played, a little stiff for me, I had quit playing pool and bought it to help a guy out and ended up trading it for a gun as I did not need a cue. Although I still have a Paradize that was the first cue I bought and paid 35.00 for it in 73 from a GI that was from Elizabeth New Jersey and said his father had gotten it from Frank in the late 60's A good cue and still hits good also.
Long post of memories but no pictures. Ain't that a bunch of crap someone leaving such a post with no pictures, some people have too much time on their hands don't they.
Everybody have a great Merry Christmas and maybe next year will be the year to be able to sell for what they are worth.
