We can do it in Vegas in may this way we both have to travel! I live in NY so I would have to travel atleast 5 hours if not more with a layover.

Karl is still spotting you the home field advantage being that it would be in your country, the USA, with mostly your fans watching.

There is a honest to god real advantage that you would have on American soil just as Karl would have an advantage playing in the UK. Karl is alot more out of his element in Vegas then you are. It would be akin to Karl being from, say, London, and you guys playing the match in Scotland. Karl is probably alot more comfotable playing in Scotland then you would be and alot more of his fans are going to drive for a few hours to watch the match then you will have willing to fly over the Atlantic.

I understand, you both will be there. But there is a clear and obvious advantage you have over Karl playing in the USA.

As mentioned above, SVB BARELY got past Jungo in Europe, he would probably have won 50-42 or so if the match was played in the USA because playing in your own country DOES matter.

It is fine for the SVB vs Jungo match, SVB barely won because Jungo needed the home field advantage to make it close. But you Dennis are supposed to be flat out better then Karl to begin with, and now he is supposed to play on your home turf? Why should Karl be expected to spot you that?

Maybe you should go over to Europe to play a event like SVB did and play Karl there instead? The Euros have already came to your turf and played you, don't you think it might be only fair to balance these things out? Or you always want that advatage in a match up?

Unless it was for $50K at least the travel and hassle alone wouldnt be worth the trip. If the two guys are going to be in one place at one time for a major tournament it makes sense to play then whether its in the US or England.

Since England does not host very many major events and even fewer that Dennis will play in anyway it makes more sense to try and set up a match that both guys will actually be at.

But then I just look at how to actually get things to happen instead of talk about whats wrong with them. If Karl is waiting for someone to come to England to play him he will be waiting a long time unless they are going to bet high as a giraffes ass.

That would actually be possibly the most neutral turf there is. We are a commonwealth, and yet the little brother of the USA. The balance of fans, the mix of cultures, Canada would be the ideal place for all Europe vs USA matches.

I agree. All of these matches should be played in Calgary Alberta Canada.

And then instead of the reality of Karl not wanting to put up the cash against Dennis on uneven ground it will instead be "Har har, Karl is scared of Dennis, Dennis is better", which seems pretty likely what Dennis is fishing for with this thread in the first place, not a match but a chance to make Karl say "no".

How about the expenses for the person who has to travel comes out of the total purse?

You have 2 players playing for 20 grand, 40k total pot. The costs of flying to the country, cabs rides, and staying in the hotel are $4000 lets say. So the 4k is paid out of the pot and now the players play for the $36,000 remaining.

Both players are then taking the exact same risk for the exact same rewards. Seems pretty obviously the fair way of doing things.

Personally I don't care if these guys play or not. Both guys are friends of mine and I can honestly say I dont think Karl can win in a long gambling match against Dennis. He just doesnt have the horsepower or experience and thats why it doesnt matter if this match would theoretically take place in Vegas or Karl's living room it isn't gonna happen.

My point was the whole "No one comes to England to play" argument is getting old. No one goes to Finland to play either. Or Germany. Or anywhere else that doesn't have something major going on with a mix of top players, action guys and time to do something. Europe is severly lacking in that kind of event. Start a euro Derby and then maybe some shit will pop off.

I know for a fact one player offered to come to England and play for $50K and it was rebuffed. No one is going to cross the channel to play a $10K set. Please stop acting like the european players travel to the US on horseback and steam ship to just play some $50 9 ball cause none of the lazy Americans will get off the couch. All the Euro's are here anyway and guys like Daz love the action so they send it in when they get the chance.

Thats what I said, and that is what I recognized. Dennis did not post this thread to get a match with Karl. He posted this thread to get self satisfaction in Karl saying "no". The fact that the match is to be played in Vegas just acts as even more of a sure thing that Dennis will not be playing the match and instead win his little head game and get the satisfaction of Karl turning the match down.

It is not pool, but it is a very common game played in the pool world and IMO it is a little lame.

Not if the two players are actually closely matched. The Color of Money might have ended with Earl winning had it been played in America. It would have changed the whole dynamics of the match. And I don't think SVB would lose to Jungo ever in America, while he barely escaped with a win in Europe due to Jungo being hooked on a 2-ball off the break. If Jungo sees that two ball he wins that set. The best player does not always win a match even if it is long.

Shows how much you know! Daz was in Vegas for 3 weeks hitting balls on that table and had more fans there than I did! I will play anywhere. How does that sound?
