What's up everyone,
I am wanting to share my 3rd completed cue to date. I have been working with a local maker over the past 4 months and attempting some cuework. I am totally ADDICTED. It is a very fun hobby!!! I am thankful to have friends on here and locally as well that are willing to help someone wanting to learn. Any criticism is appreciated. The cue has a quilted walnut forearm and buttsleeve with a padauk handle. The buttcap and joint are canvas phenolic with some rings at the joint and buttcap as well. Thanks for looking.

Nice looking cue there, Trav. It's easy to get hooked, huh ?? Be safe working.

hows my crisp???? i keep peeking out the window when i hear loud exhaust... thinking its the ups driver..heheh let me know...
 
Good luck on making cues. Seems like everyone is making cues these days.
For a hobby it could be fun but for a living forget about it.
I would say about 1 in 100 make it if that many.

Trav, looking good, the more you get into it the more addicted you will be. if you ever need anything at all give me a call. Jeff
 
I want to be honest, and you did say "any criticism is appreciated". So here goes.

In my humble opinion, this cue is exceptionally ugly. I feel like you were trying to break out of the box with the wood combination, but I think you've discovered WHY you don't see that wood combination all that much, if ever.

I think some of the people who have complimented the looks of this cue are being the "supportive husband" lol. "Does my butt look fat?" "Nooooo honey it looks great".

I hope you don't take offense, and there's nothing wrong with being supportive, but I had to give my two cents to counter all the supportive dishonesty :)
 
It does kind of have a gulyassy vibe to it, but I haven't seen a gulyassy I've liked either. I can appreciate the uniqueness though :p

Nice Trav! It feels good when you can go out and play with a cue that you have made yourself.

Man it does. I am still on cloud nine from a natural high. I am really looking forward to learning and building more and more every single day.

Hey congrats on the hew hobby, and soon to be business!

I know you've owned and played with a lot of custom cues, so I believe you know what a good cue should feel like. Making a cue hit the way you want it to is probably the ultimate challenge. Once you get it down, I know a LOT of people are going to be happy!

Best of luck, and here's something to think about:

Keep the first cue you make. It will be nice to see exactly where you started, and how far you came!

Thanks alot man. That will be the fun and challenging part, getting them to all hit consistent. I will definitely keep the first to see the progress. Thanks for the advice, Trav Dorn.

I must say that is an odd choice of woods but if you like the hit, I know I will too.
