I would like to add San Mateo's "The Great Entertainer" USPPA tournament, Daly City's "Town & Country", Shoreline billiards, & Cambell Billiards. I used to play tournament every day of the week when Gene Stary owned the USPPA (Wayyyyy back then!). I remember my first USPPA tournament at the Palace Billiards in San Francisco where I met a first met Tony Annigoni and Dave Piona...ahhh, brings back great memories!

Yesterday on Facebook, Jeff posted that he would get paid in 2 weeks to 2 months and that Tony sounded very sincere. Whatever that means. I hope Jeff doesn't mind I posted this but since he put it on Facebook for all to see I thought I would share. I sent him a message asking if he had any information as to why this happened from what Tony told him. I mean I would think he had to give Jeff a reason for Jeff to be so calm and patient over this. But then what more can he do but go along with him.
.......2 weeks to 2 months? That doesn't sound too good......especially since some have been told before that the check will be in the mail 3-4 weeks ago....
A sticky!!!
Hope the players get paid.
It is a real shame it has taken this long.

Don't worry, it will be promptly paid in 2 weeks to 2 months*

This is total BS for a pool league that has been running for 20 years! Tony should sell it, give it up, or just move on. All he's doing is building ill will among the players.

I agree Scott, and quickly.
Soon there will be nothing left to sell. If someone with some cash took over, they could pay off the players and everbody could get on with their lives.
Chris
Actually, it probably would pay better. The problem is that he'd have to be able to beat the Chinese to do really well at it. Good luck at that. It's hard to compete against players coming from a program that actively seeks and trains them starting as children, and that has 20% of the world's population to draw from.Hell, maybe I should teach my son to play ping-pong so he can grow up to make more than the professional pool players. (sarcasm intended and nothing against ping-pong, great exercise and I enjoy it, but I think you get my point)
The problem is, it's not his to sell. It belongs to Gene Starry's widow and Tony probably has her bamboozled like everybody else.
Yesterday at the Chet Ito Memorial, everyone that has money coming was pretty closed mouth and those in the know refuse to talk due to an oral promise to Tony to stay quiet for now.
