Carrying cues on a plane!

it would be great to still be able to bring both cue & case onto a plane as carry on luggage.

To be honest however, i am pretty sure that i could do more damage to a person with the butt of a cue than i could the sharpest pencil i could find.

Great idea about getting in contact with the tsa & leaving a suggestion.

I'd keep in mind that on a plane you're in a very confined space. Not a whole lot of room to really swing and hit someone with full force. Can't swing it over head, really would only be able to swing it side arm within the small opening between the top of the seats and the over head bins.

I think an individual could do much more damage with a mechanical pencil or a screw driver both of which are allowed to be carried on to a plane.

Don't forget to mention the fact that canes of all shapes and sizes are allowed through security. While a cue locked in a case is somehow more dangerous.

Jay,
You might put this on your Facebook page as well. Just a thought.

I put mine in too. If we're all banding together on this, is there anyway that the admins could send out a big PM to everyone with the link to send in theirs or at least make this a stickey.

I remember traveling back in the 80's or 90's and it was no problem taking my cues as carry-ons.
I don't mind airport security but sometimes I think they regulate things a lil too much. There is no way I'm hitting somebody with my $700 Schon. LOL, I might put a nick in it.
I sent them a message also......in numbers they might listen. It can't hurt.

if you’re going to the derby i challenge you to a duel.

Me using the butt of a cue, you using a sharp pencil.

I will be picking my dad up at the louville airport & we can sneak onto a plane there.

Just joking of course.

It would be quite a victory if this campaign succeeds.

they say one letter is effectively worth 5 phone calls. 1 email, i would think, it worth very little. i would suggest writing letters.... put your effort behind it if you believe in the cause, seriously. hope it all helps....

YOu are not a gambling man on that topic, are ya, SLIM?!:D:D

"Just joking of course.";)

I sent my suggestion in too. (I left out the part about most pool players don't have the extra cash to check in additional luggage for their cues :p )

Eeek! That would suck!

I'm wondering if there has ever been an incident with someone using a cue as a weapon on a plane. VERY DOUBTFUL!

I think it would be amazing if all of us at AZ were instrumental in having this "law" changed. Of course, nothing surprises me anymore.

Let's inundate them with suggestions and complaints about this policy! Nothing like being the squeaky wheel. If enough of us contact TSA, they will finally have to discuss this in a meeting of the higher ups. There is strength in numbers! I believe in the power of AZ.

I like your suggestion but it has two assumptions that may not prove tenable.

1. Someone at TSA has to not only read the emails but get someone who has authority to read them or at least look at the aggegrate numbers.

2. Someone with authority has to want to do something about it.

It is a very good idea though and beats not voicing our opinions.

Thanks for suggesting it.
