Hey whats up, this is my first post and just wanted to introduce myself.
my names josh, and im 23 years old, and started playing pool about a year and a half ago. the reason i started playing is that i had a buddy who played and he was pretty good, i played him (and i was terrible of course) and he beat me and we just kept playing and playing. Ill admit, im a sore loser lol so i started practicing. not soon after that i got laid off from my job at caterpillar (which i am back now thank god...) for about 11.5 months or so. i literally played about 15+ hours a week at a local pool hall and a bar we all go to. I would say im a decent player, but theres def ALOT i would love to learn and which is one of the reasons i joined this forum, so im lookin forward to learning from all of you.
My cues..
My first cue i bought was a few months after i started playin, i bought some used 'Action' cue from ym local pool hall for $50 and i finagled a free soft case with it lol. i didnt have a clue about cues (still really dont to be honest) but i now use that as my break cue and just recently baught a Palmer cue (couldnt tell ya what model) it has a much smoother shaft and seem to play better than that action did..
heres some of my questions regarding my cue....
i recently played with a guy who was really quite good and he mentioned he was using a muecci cue with a smaller diameter shaft, im assuming a 12.75mm since it wasnt much smaller than mine and mine is a 13mm. but when we compared tips, his was much more 'round' per say. my tip, which is shaped whenever i play with that round shiny disc thing with a tip guage lol... his looks like....say.....if u look at ur pinky and cut it off at the base of the fingernail, thats about how round his was, and he was getting some crazy spin on the ball. my tip isnt so round almost looks like this ---> " ( " i can masse' draw the ball somewhat but he culd really control that CB....i was wondering if i should buy a new cue, or have my shaft shaved down a little so it has a smaller tip ( i like a little smaller tip anyway) and then have a new ferrul and tip put on it, and if so what tip...soft, med, hard....what brand...and if i bought a new cue itd be in the $250 or less range, sorry for such a looong post.
Thanks Again !
