Sorry to say that the Legends and Champions Pool tour will not be making the stop at garage billiards in Marion, Indiana on February 9th as planned. I received a call yesterday from the owner who told me that they had closed their doors and the bank had changed the locks.
Garage billiards looked like a great place to play from what I saw on their website and had only been open for 9 months. They also were voted one of the top 10 pool rooms in the USA not too long ago.

What a shame, it seems that pool rooms are just dropping like flies. I hate to see this happen.

However we will be still holding a pool clinic at Magic Billiards in Indianapolis on the 10th of feb between 6pm and 10pm. For more info call me at 480-612-7732 or email me at cantrillmark@yahoo.com

Mark,

Sounds like someone put too much money into opening the joint and drastically underestimated what their monthly income would be. When a joint closes less than a year after opening it's 99% of the time due to poor business sense.

amen to the c. cowboy

Every time I drive down to Downtown Phoenix to the VAMC (VA Medical Center), I see more and more business closing, or closed.

I know from talking to people who work at the VAMC the clinics, and hospital is busier than ever, because many of the veterans who had jobs, and insurance, are coming to the VA because of no jobs, and no insurance.

The rank of the homeless is growing on the streets of our Nation why our POTUS Spend & Has Fun GALAVANTING like he is our KING.

Sadly we need a person in OUR White House who is more like Ronald Reagan, and allow business to grow without all this Government over regulation and interference.

POOL is not the only business that is being effected, as about 20 miles west of me in a small Arizona community they lost their Chevrolet/Buick Dealership because of this recession, the POTUS calls his economic stimulus plan.

CC: It may take a lifetime, if ever, to fix the mess that the prior administration left behind for this great nation after the economic rape and pillaging that occurred. It took 8 years to destroy completely, starting with a surplus budget. If you really expect it to be repaired in 2 years, especially given all the meaningless interference and opposition from the right, you must be a teabagger in fantasyland. Good luck with that. Personally, I'm for America, not a political party. I'm really sorry to hear that Garage Billiards closed, it looked like a great poolhall. JMO.

It was a great place.

Don't let the ramblings of CC sway this into something political.
You couldn't change his mind if you presented facts to him 24/7 for a year.

Marion was hard hit by the closing of nearby auto plants and hasn't recovered just yet, but they are a strong community type town

Mark,

I went over there last night to play the tournament and found them closed. They had been struggling for some reason, though every time I was in there on a weekend in they had a decent amount of people. Tables were nice diamonds. Started out strong, but then some issues came up that pissed off a few people. It was the first time I had a place close to play that had decent tables. Liked it there.

Well if my memory serves me correctly Marion to Indy Town is an hour drive each way, so people who really want to come, need only drive an hour each way.

I keep reading these posts. I wonder how many posts like this we'll read before you start collecting money up front. Then, if someone cancels-- who cares.

P.S. If someone doesn't wanna pay up-front to get on the schedule, "not a fit."

Why yes you are! Good call! Now shut your mouth... Obama, cheap Internet deals and walmart totally f**ked America and it's small business owners. Prove me wrong please. I bet you cannot. No go crawl back into your hole and think about how bad you were.

Oh you might say walmart employs many people and that they do. For a whopping $10.00 an hour! Woohoo! Where the hell are you going with $10.00 an hour? I'll tell you! You'll live paycheck to paycheck and never amount to anything. Thank god I have a recession-proof business.

Its not always easy for a pool room to pay up front. They need to save $$ in other places to get the $$. As far as you say "if they cancel Who cares?" We care actually. W don't want to take anyones last dime who may be on the verge of closing their doors" I agree we should take $$ up front but unfortunatly we don't live in a perfect pool world ya know? Spidey, I usually agree with your posts but on this one its a little cold man and have to disagree.

I think my tone wasn't what I intended. When I first read the title of your post...I already knew someone cancelled. I would never schedule your team without at least a 50% deposit. No less. If a bar / poll hall can't afford a 50% deposit, they shouldn't be on your calling list. Target larger bars and rooms with liquer. Please don't take my first post the wrong way. Never bet on the come with any room.

I have spoke with Mark and he has got good ideas and intentions. If anyone knows of pool rooms that his gig might work in let him know.

I think that once he gets rolling these shows may pay off and that would be great for the game, a few players and fans.
