Question about a Gus Szamboti Cue

This cue has been in the family since 1972, It is a Gus Szamboti but little seems to be known about his cues with no points, from the Billiards Encyclopedia I find that Jim Rempe is likely to have received one at one time, another rumor is that they were built by Barry. I have read elsewhere that only 5 or 6 were made and they went to Japan. I contacted Barry for some info but that didn't help. I know there are some very knowledgeable guys here so I am asking for any info that anyone is willing to provide. The cue is not will not be for sale. Thanks to anyone that provides some input.

I ask him specifically about had his Dad made non point cues and were they sent overseas, he said yes he had made a few, I ask if he could authenticate this cue he said if I sent it to him he would provide his notes but the only cues he would authenticate was his own. I had the actual emails saved but lost them in a computer crash so I am recalling from memory around 3 years ago. Meanwhile I am doing some research on my own and as that continues I decided to tap into the sea of knowledge on this sight. Ultimately I will most likely send it to Barry to get what I can from him but want to do a little investigating on my own first.

I think that seniding it Barry is the only way to get your questions answered. He may have the original paper work concerning the cue and that can be invaluable.

Like others have said, the ring work looks very very different for a Zamboti cue, but since it is an early early cue that doesn't mean very much, but it is another reason to send it Barry and to get his opinion.

Based on the previous input from you guys I did a little checking and I agree the rings definitely look Joss West like. Knowing what I do about the history of the cue I am real confident it is a Gus. It looks like it is going to have to go to Barry to get official credentials. The cue actually belongs to my Dad who has had it since 1972 but it looks like it may be a rare one which is kind of cool.

The joint collars look like my '68 Joss.
The rings at the top of the butt cap look like my '71 Szamboti.
I'm betting on Gus..just a feeling
 
I have archive photos of a Gus with these rings. It was a double pattern but I am positive its the same collars.
