Earl is being Earl right now vs. Hatch

This thread is just another reminder of why I really can't stand the guy. He's an incredible player who's just a turd. He's the Allen Iverson of pool.

Just so you know, I didn't just pull this name out of a hat. Allen Iverson was a player who had all the talent in the world, much like Earl. Had all the heart in the world. He would charge down the lane and play like a man 10" taller than him, much like Earl. He was also a completely self-centered, jackass of a humanbeing who garnered all kinds of media attention, much like Earl. Yeah.... I'd say the comparison fits.

Having gambled/played with both its the elephant in the room....''what's going on''. It's obvious, these two type personalities don't get along in the same cage very well.

As posted earlier, the rule states being "on the line" is ok. IMO that should be behind the line and not include the line.

Anyway, that aside, WTF, why don't they draw the headstring line? :scratchhead: :shrug::speechless::killingme:

I noticed way back in 2009 at Galveston TX at the World Classic that Ken Shuman had stepped up his work.

When he's miced / miked up (whichever one means has a microphone) he always refers to the player as "Mr."......"Foul! Mr. Strickland has ball in hand".....or....."Mr. Daulton leads the match 5 games to 3".

He adds class & dignity to the proceedings.

Maybe, but even Ken Shuman made Hatch move it back in a subsequent game. Earl probably shouldn't have worried about it, but he was right is what he said. One thing about Earl, he never tries to take an unfair advantage. He expects his opponents to do the same and will call them on it when he see's them doing something, even by such a small margin, that they shouldn't. I was surprised at the Derby that this same thing wasn't called. At the Derby, the rule was that the entire ball must be behind the head string and most of the players treated it like it was "base of the ball".

I feel that's an unfair assessment. Actually, away from the table, Earl is a very nice guy. I've been friends with Earl for 25 years and he's always been great to hang out with and always makes time to sign autographs and answer

questions from fans who approach him. He's also done some very nice things for the "make a wish" foundation and other charities. It's just that Earl tries so hard to win, that when things go wrong or he see's his opponent doing

something that he wouldn't do himself, he gets aggravated. All that stuff about being a poor loser is BS anyway. A wise man once said "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser"! I was very happy to see Earl beat Hatch. If

anyone deserves the "bad boy" handle it's that guy! IMHO You'd never see Earl sending strong arm robbers to rip off road players like Hatch did!

i think you might be mistaking their intensity and highly competitive nature and perceiving that is how they are when they're not competing

Earl is the man and i will always be a fan, who cares if he does something that you don't like during a match ? Earl is Earl plain and simple love him or hate him either way he sure can play !! :thumbup:

Earl gets Miked up at tourneys so that you can hear his comments...

He gets "Miced" up sometimes in the comfort of his home... its when he leaves the little guy in for the whole tourney that he gets REAL irritable.... ;)



And Richard Gere gets really jealous too!!
