Ronnie Allen challenge

You guys must play pretty good.

Interesting concept. I was actually approached this week with a similar scenario. I'm 62 and my fellow geezer 58. We would play scotch doubles with anyone with combined age of 120. Keeps some of the younger heroes out of the mix? Ten ahead one pocket would never end. Gasoline will be $15 a gallon before they finish.

There's a lot of 60 plus players around, who play top notch pool. Buddy Hall and Efren would make a great team. I ain't positive, but thats gotta be close to 120. If you get takers, I might wanna buy the video.

How's this for an interesting variation?...
..straight pool to 150
..the spot is the difference in the combined ages...

..see how a couple young turks like that one

Anybody backing Ronnie?

RA called me today and because he is computer illiterate, asked me to post a challenge for him on the forums. He said he will play anybody that is his age or older (72) a ten ahead race of One Pocket for $10,000 in Las Vegas. He was dead serious.

....just got off the phone with DiLiberto, 76, just had a stroke, and he said, and I quote, "tell'em I'd love to play him that way, I'll rob'em, too!!!;)

Thanks to this thread, we got one match on, featuring two 70+ players. Our own Jhendy (John Henderson) will be playing "Little Al" Romero a Race To Five for $4,000 at California Billiards during the Seminole Pro Tour event, which is scheduled for April 27 to May 1. In case you didn't know there will be a $4,000 added One Pocket tourney April 27-29 and a $12,000 added Ten Ball tourney April 29-May 1. Should be a blast with many good players in attendance. Yours truly will be officiating along with John Ditoro. California Billiards is a great room with good places to stay near by. I'm inviting all AZ'ers in the area to come out and sweat the action.

John moves fast!!!

Leave it to John Henderson to show all the AZers how its done. No foolin around just put the money up and get the match set. As my tradition, this match will be pooltime free!!!!!! I will also work on getting it streamed for the AZers that can't make it in person, of course with John and Al's aproval.

If you have not signed up you should do so soon, as we are filling up fast. Scot Frost, Sylver, Rafeal Martinez,Billy Palmer, and the list goes on. To sign up or for info go to californiabilliardclub.com and click on Tournaments.

Truth Be Known

There arn't many AZ members that could have beat Ronnie in his prime playing one handed.

Jay, I'm planing on leaving my comfy little nest to go up north to play in both events. Do you know what cue ball they will be playing with so that I can start practicing?

Don

I knew Ronnie Allen in his prime.
I can't picture anyone playing better one-handed 1-pocket.

But I think Jesse Allred could hang with him at one handed 9-ball.

Where you at Freddy like to hear from you or Ronnie, maybe he can play the winner of the Little Al / John Henderson match. If you post something at least respond to the reply when they take your offer. Of course this is AZ and were talking pool so maybe a challenge accepted can be ignored.

It's Ronnies challenge, not mine. Problem is, Ronnie aint a computer person, so someone has to read him these replies and then reply for him. It wont be me. i did my job posting it in the first place.

They use the measles ball Frank.

I would let you stay with me but I am 2 1/2 hours away from Mtn View and will be staying in the hotel next door.

Look forward to seeing you. Let me know if you are flying in & I'll pick you up at the airport. You won't need a car once you are here. Plenty of places to eat and great food at the pool room. John
