Earl/Shane Scoreboard

everyone knows how earl is these days, and has been like this for a long time, Shane wasn't forced to take this TAR, he went into it knowing full well it could very likely turn out this way on the sharking side.

i think he must have thought his shooting would shut Earl up, looks like that ain't gonna happen

I don't think Shane got sharked by Earl today, just outplayed. Everyone seems to have conveniently forgotten that Shane turns his hearing aids off when playing in tournaments or matches like this. If he can't see Earl" face and reads his lips, he has no idea what he says. Name calling, shame on you Jay.:D

Shane isnt completely hearing impaired, he can still hear better than you think....

John, you may have more money than brains, to publicly say you did threaten Earl. I'd suggest you slow down on the booze, might save you some cash. I don't see the insult in what he said. He likely meant he wished he didn't hear everything being said by the crowd. I wouldn't wish Shane's condition on anyone, but I've wished I could drown out distractions during pool matches in a lot of places I've played in. Why do you think Shane plays without his hearing aids on? Why is he allowed to in tournaments that disallow ear plugs?

Very well said.

It was me, I told Earl:
If you act like you did today again tomorrow it isn't going to end well."

He jumped up and said I threatened him, and I did.

Does this mean it wont end well because Earl will blow his top and end up losing or something else? Everyone who is involved with this match knew way ahead of time what they were getting into when inviting Earl over to play.

If Shane has to put up with Earl's mouth during this action match, then I say all is fair in love and war; in this case, an action match. This isn't mum pool, or is it?

When my horse is in the pit, I am rooting for him on the rail. If anybody insulted him, you can best believe I'm going to respond. That's how I roll.

This is what pool needs, a little emotion in the game. Will Earl's wisdom of the game be the determining factor for the almighty win, or will Shane's youth, good eyes, and talent allow him to cross the finish line before Earl? Time will tell.

It's an interesting proposition, playing on the 10-footer. Earl turns 50 in 2011. He's racing against the clock when it comes to him being able to compete at a level that he's comfortable with, while Shane has a whole future ahead of him and is just beginning his legacy.

If earl tells shane one more time that he wishes he was deaf like him i wouldnt take 2 to 1 that i dont knock him out before this weekend is over!

Shane has said more than once in interviews that being almost deaf is an advantage in this game. To me that makes Earl's comment a whole lot less harmful.

Earl is being a total jerk of course but no worse per inning than many other matches of his i have witnessed but perhaps it is a new high for a match he was winning from the start.

Justin is doing the right thing. Constant chatter would take away from the Earl show.

What's really nice about this match, in particular, is that there is display of emotion. Because of it, this may become an epic TAR challenge, one to go down in the history books.

Look at how much forum *action* it's generating.

In reality, this is truly what pool needs. It is rewarding to see two pool players who actually do know how to shoot pool, giving it their all. This is generating a lot of attention. Love him or hate him, Earl knows how to draw a crowd.

I like seeing emotion and talent combined in pool. I don't like tournament robots, and I don't enjoy watching players who can't run three balls in a row. This TAR challenge seems to have captured the fun and excitement that can be enjoyed in pool. Bravo!

Gee... maybe Earl DOES wanna play the world on a 5x10 with tighter pockets.

I love Earl and I'm his biggest fan. I just hope someone on his side tells him to cool it with the chirping before someone sticks his head in the corner pocket and makes it stay there.

He may have turned off his hearing aid, but he didn't close his eyes.

Earl needs to come out tonight donning a straight jacket as a robe with "Got Crazy?" on the back. Maybe enter the arena to "Stupid Girl" or "Humpty Dance", some song that makes no sense whatsover.

I was going to make a few bets on Shane in this one, but something told me not to. Plus the fact that I was going to be in Biloxi and not get to watch. I ended up having to leave Biloxi yesterday so now I can hopefully watch tonight.

What Earl said was ill mannered, discourteous and rude. Some might call it malicious as well. I can see where John would have gotten quite upset. I would have too. Shane has overcome a major hurdle in his life to get where he is today, and too discount that with nasty remarks is pretty damn low in my book. Let Earl walk a day in Shane's shoes and see how he likes it. I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt on this one. You can if you like.

As for Shane being allowed to play with his hearing aid in hie ear, I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. And if you do, then I say that you have a problem. Shane is a special case, as are most handicapped people. And exceptions are made for them throughout society. Maybe you just haven't been paying attention. Kind of like Earl in that respect.

That's the worst i've ever seen shane play. And some of the best i've seen earl play.

That said, I do believe shane got the worse end of the rolls on day 1 by a long shot.

And with that said, with shane playing terrible, earl playing great... shane is only down 11 games in the worst atmosphere he could ever dream of being at.

I'm proud of him.

Lots of pool left to play.

I think this is far from over. And I think there's likely to be lot's more to talk about, "entertainment-wise", as well.

And that's good for pool.

Congrats, Justin and everyone involved.
