Legends and Champions Bad Blood, official press release with rules etc.

It would be cool if everyone that played in a league or local tourney to make a letter and bring some copies and pass them out. Many times the league guys don't even know this is going on would have jumped on it if ony they had known.

Do something for pool today... tell your league buddies, or tourney buddies or anyone that is interested in watching championship pool !!!

The more successful this is, the more matches we will all get to see.

Great idea and good post. The sad but true thing with that in this area is 90% of the league players which are APA wouldn't even know who Archer or Strickland is. And unfortunatly that is no joke.

Man, I really want to drive up there and see this in person, but I hate to miss out on the commentary of Hall/Varner. What to do, what to do...

Either way, this is gonna be epic, and I will definitely support it by viewing it from somewhere.

Thanks for your hard work in putting this together!

You hit the nail there....."EPIC" is the perfect word choice. Can't believe anyone would wanna miss this one !!!!

Personal security organization have contacted me that have a team of bodyguards they are sending to the event at no charge to make sure that all goes well. Each pro will be assigned one Personal security expert and extra in case we have a fan who gets out of control.

These guys are no joke, all martial arts experts and current or former Chicago police. So for those of you who were thinking that Archer and Strickland were gonna come to fists that ain't gonna happen. However each of them have a bodyguard so the security may get into it and that might be like a UFC thing added. Hell I might have to put the price up cos them UFC things cost $50 :) Of course I am kidding about the price but the rest is true.

I appreciate the info ^ ...I'll be buying in for sure and I hope y'all and make a little something off of this. The pro commentary is a VERY nice added touch. I'll be fidgeting for the next week or so.

Thanks Creedo, I am happy that you appreciate it. It obviously is a decent size additional cost for the production but I figure it will make things better for the PPv viewers and knowlege??? Not sure how many other people have as much knowledge than these two put together

That's too bad. If they're using an older table, why can't they just put new rubber on it, so they don't have to triple shim the pockets to make them smaller. Using more than one shim deadens the way the pocket accepts balls, and makes it play funny...not unlike the Earl/Shane table (although that was more because it was a snooker table first).

They got a Gandy 9 ft and are shimming the pockets to 3 7/8 http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=225106&page=2 post 66

To be honest Scott I really don't know at this point how they are going to make the table so tight. It may already be that tight. However we have a table Mechanic who will be overseeing that it is in good playing condition. 860 tourny blue going on too.

Mark...Good for you to have a mechanic to make it good. Too bad it couldn't be RKC! Best of luck with this. It's shaping up to be a really good match!

Scott I should not have said shimmed because I do not know how they are getting them to 3 7/8. Sorry for what may have been miss information.

Yeah, but hoping some BCA, ACS, VNEA and others as well as in-house leagues get the heads up. Plus, maybe some of our APA brothers might want to watch and get involved in some championship pool by supporting this. They might give it a whirl.....I hope..

OK, I'm good to give that a try locally here. I don't know what kind of reception I'll get, or if I'll be allowed to post it anywhere.

However, to do this, I (or anyone who wants to try and help) need a little help.

Mark, any chance you can post a link to a printable (preferably PDF-style) version of your poster for the event. (8"x11") Perhaps there is one somewhere here on the boards, but I don't see it in this thread.

This might be a good idea for any future big event that you put on. (TAR, too.) Once you get the details locked in, provide a link to a flyer for us to distrbute for you. We have a rather large grass-roots organization here, put it to good use!

If we were REALLY aggressive and/or advanced, perhaps some leagues might be willing to include flyers like this in their weekly paperwork. That could be addressed locally, by we the players, with our local LO's. And perhaps Mark (or JCIN, etc) can make some headway with the national organization HQ's as well. Perhaps that has already been tried. Just a thought.

Getting the word out is the key.

I have handed stuff out at leagues before for various other stuff. You don't need the leagues permission imho. I mean, the pool hall owner could tell you no, but I never got so much as a dirtly look. Just one flyer on every table before league, never had a complaint before. Or just hand them right to the players. Heck, you are trying to promote pool and he owns a pool hall....I'm hoping he's in your corner. But if you can get the flyer included in the league handout stuff, evern better !!!
