aiming

OK
I will do that.
I suggest the same drill with the cueball about one diamond off the rail.
How about doing each shot as follow and as draw alternately.
Like this the throw effect for each shot will be different every time...
I will post a video. How about you?

.... an aiming system doesn't help you with the cueball on the rail....

If you want a drill that tests purely a shooter's aim, then a drill should be picked that doesn't require shooting off the rail.

Well, ok. But it seems to me there's a good deal of difference between those two statements. It's like saying

"Perfect sight alignment doesn't help you at 1000 meters if the wind's gusting from 0 to 20 knots."

and then saying

"If you want to purely test a shooter's aiming ability, it should be done indoors at 100 yards."

Those aren't related statements. I have no real problem with the second statement in either the pool or rifle shooting case. The first statement with respect to rifle shooting is untrue, and I have doubts about the first one regarding pool.

UBC,

Wie geht es dir, mein freund? Danke sehr fur deine video. Du kanst nie zeigen diese leute nichts, auch wenn du gingst auf wasser! Sorry for the poor Deutsch.

I occasionally use a stick aiming method for certain shots, also. I use Pro One and 90/90 as well. I would like to pick up a copy of that video. It sounds interesting.

Best,
Mike

I said defensive about how they work.

That's a nice vanity video, but all it shows is that the guy has a sharp eye. It doesn't show how his system helps him.

I haven't said anything against CTE in this post, but I'll bet your first inclination is to argue with it. That's being defensive.

You're obviously the one being defensive. I didn't even mention CTE. You did. Maybe it's your selective reading disorder acting up again?

It's because you don't (want to) understand. This isn't about whether you can shoot well with CTE or not. You can play with a windmill stroke like Bustamante, which is considered to be a bad habit, and play well. Look at him! He plays so well, I think everybody should use a windmill stroke! Can't be bad, can it? That's not the point.
I also don't know what you expect from a feel- or ghostball-aimer. Would you be happier if I posted a video of me running 50 balls and say "it's all feel, mates"? Besides, we all know that feel aimers play like shit.

I would be impressed if you posted a video running 20 balls. I wouldn't care how you did it.

There are lots of videos already posted on YouTube of pros who undoubtedly shoot better than you without your system. That means your system is inferior, right?

Er... I think maybe you meant "zeigen". Or maybe not.

You're right! I'm surprised the aiming police didn't catch this before you did. I apologized ahead of time. It's been a while since high school.

Starting to sound like a bad martial arts movie about whos kung fu is better.

There is this little thing called application of a system that kinda matters how well any system will work.

For me, my great shot making has nothing to do with what system I have trained with, but how I apply what I have learn from using that system to every shot I do. This is true of any system.

So, any drill, match, and so on is only going prove how well someone can use the system of their choice and not really prove the worth of the system itself.

Every shot I have posted was taken before I made it the way I have explain how I use GB. I wish I did video them, but just couldn't at the time. Besides, it would be just showing off. It's enough for me to know what I can do on the table.

aiming

Today I will record a video clip as I told you.
I will shoot alternately with follow and draw the Joe Tucker drill one diamond apart from the rail.
If you don't care for pivoting aiming systems just try it-it will be a good training

aiming drill with a pivot aiming system

Here we go.
I did my little video.
Try to make it- with or without a pivot aiming system-it is a nice aiming workout. I got a phone call in the middle of the drill so I had to cut it.
Actually I can only upload videos with max. 10 min. length-so I would have to cut it anyway.
Excuse my english please :)
Have a great day-even all you naysayers

Great job, Ekkes. Unfortunately, the same guys asking you to make a video would never post a video themselves.

Keep them coming -- good shooting.

Awesome shooting!

Not to worry, though.....
The Naysayers will just say that if you didn't pivot, you would probably play even better. :D:D:D

Ekkhard,
You should consider taking Stan Shuffett's Foundation Course, like many other professional players do. It looks like you are a student of the game and an excellent player already. It is apparent that you teach pool as well.

Thanks for posting on AZ Billiards Main Forum.

Your posts are excellent, as are your videos.

Ekkes rail drill

Ekkes, nice shooting and the Joe Tucker ball on the rail drill is tough and you almost were perfect on it. Joey stated that you should go through Stan's course but I think you stated that you use Pro One as your aiming system so you must have already taken a lesson from Stan? If not it looks like you got a lot out of Stan's DVD. Well done!

Well, the more I thought about it, and given the context, the more I thought maybe you'd really meant "ziegen" and I just hadn't parsed the sentence correctly (which I find really easy to screw up with German).

Ziegen is a female sheep, I was told. I don't think we want to explore this any further!:grin-square:
