I would have thought 70's Huebler as well but since that doesn't ring the bell, I'll guess that it is a late 60's early 70's National Tournament Cue--perhaps engineered by Bob Meucci.

I would guess that it's an early no-name Huebler. The one I have has a similar looking bumper and a fatter butt. I think some early Meucci's looked like that, but both those ideas have been put out there.
If that's not it ..... are you making any tribute cues near the Cascades?

Meucci Avary early cue bob used to work with paul

I know I said I would let this run until 6:00 pm, but I doubt that anyone will guess what the cue actually is.

While many partly guessed what the cue was member Jerryscues above was the closest, so he wins.

The cue was made by Bob Meucci, before Meucci cues was started and while he was working in Paul Heublers shop.

These cues are not very common and are often totally confused with either a Meucci or Heubler but they actually have attributes of both.

Design elements from Paul Heubler:

The shaft insert that is Nylon is all Heubler and it was used by Paul until the company closed its door's. The Pearlized Plastic ring design in the cues butt and at the joint are also Paul's design and they were used for many many years after this cue design was made.

Design elements from Bob Meucci:

The length of the cues ferrule is all Meucii, and this ferrule design is still used today. The Westinghouse Macarta ferrule material was also used on the first line of Meucci cues, to my knowledge Paul never used it. The size of the cues butt diameter is also typical of the first catalog of Meucci cues, however, later and I am uncertain when Bob changed the butt diameter of future Meucci cues. The bumper and weight bolt are also exactly the same as those used in Bob's first catalog and changed in the early 1980's.

Both cue makers used the Brass pin in their early cues, it is one of the few design traits that carried over from both cue makers, the only major difference was that they used different inserts. In Bob's first line he used a Brass shaft insert, while paul never changed from Nylon.

These cues were known as the QB Series and they were made in 1973 or 1974 while Bob Meucci was working in Paul's shop and before he started Meucci cues in 1975. I have heard many stories concerning the break up of the Heubler / Meucci collaboration I don't know if these stories are true of false so I will not relate them here.

I have known for years that there was a collaboration between Paul and Bob in Paul's original shop in Linn Missouri. I grew up in Missouri and I bought my first cue from Paul in the early 1970's. I have been to Paul's shop on a few occasions years ago and I was dealer who sold Heubler and Meucci cues starting in 2003. Years ago Paul told about his relationship with Bob, but he did go into any details because it was not something he wanted to remember.

Special thanks must go out to forum member poolcrazy, who is the most knowledgeable person I have ever spoken with concerning Heubler cues. He also has a very large collection of Paul's cues that were made in the custom shop. Without his help I also would have thought that the cue was just an old Heubler like many other members who posted to this thread. However, without Terry's help I would have not started this thread and would not have received the information needed to properly identify this cue. Terry and myself are trying to find some additional information as to whether there were ever catalogs produced that list these cues. If anyone knows for certain of has one please post either a photo or that information to this thread.

Thanks to everyone who posted, I am grateful for your responses.

I was wondering what role that Meucci pill bumper would play in this cues identity, since "Meucci" had been guessed already...Tricky.

That's a pretty cool old cue Craig, Poolcrazy will probably be talking you out of it, if you let him. How's it play?

Bump this one up to the top, if I get no action the cue is going toebay later tonight.

Take care

Mystery Cue

Ching Ching, its a Meucci, from the Bob Meucci/Paul Huebler era, pre 69'. Should have had a large Meucci sticker at the bottom when new!
