APA in Fulton NY A MUST READ STORY

The really frustrating part about this train wreck is, I read the first couple posts and didn't see it again for three weeks. I'm pretty sure I could've corrected a couple inaccurate responses right when they showed up instead of Brian seeing them and "flying off the handle".

One of the statements that jumped out at me was that the story of the racks themselves changed. I forget who posted it, it was 15 pages ago, but the idea was "you said you ran 7 racks in a row, but then you said he ran to the 7 and left you the 8 for the win, so your story changed." At around that point in the thread people started calling him a liar.

Explanation: Brian's opponent broke and ran the first rack. The second rack, he broke and ran to the 7, leaving Brian the 8 to set up the win in the second rack. This is the point at which his opponent burped loudly during his backstroke, and Brian missed and told him to shut up and play pool, or whatever the precise wording was. This began the first 15 minute interlude of arguing and threatening, after which his opponent broke and Brian won the next 7 racks.

Another statement was that Brian decided not to mention in his official statement to the APA that he had made a "$500 from here" bet at his opponent's break.

Explanation: In other posts through the thread, Brian stated that he and his opponent were going back and forth with taunts about gambling prior to the 3rd break. The third break was the first time anyone actually pulled any money out. He said "you don't mean it", the money was put away, and nobody said anything about it the rest of the match. He didn't mention gambling at all in the official statement, because both players would've been found at fault for it and nobody actually gambled. As far as he was concerned, the gambling comment wasn't the point.

There was something else, too, but I can't remember it and I just lost the last hour of my life reading this trainwreck again. Anyway ask somebody for clarification before calling them a liar. Sometimes they misspoke, sometimes you misread it.

i did read all his posts twice before making my 1st post making sure i did not mis read anything. i even stated that in my 1st post.

he questioned my comprehension abilities and things escalated from there. i have never claimed to be the smartest person around but i do know how to comprehend what i read.

imo if you are going to go cry to the lo about getting slapped you ought to tell the whole story including the bet from here statement. did you read the post where brian said the police were going to take him in also for harrasment towards his opponent ? maybe the lo took that into consideration when deciding to bar brian from going to vegas.

I didn't bother to go back and re-read everything; however, the description from walrus is absolutely correct based on my memory.

OK, I just went back to re-read; post#1 is not clear; however, post#4 clearly states that his opponent is up 2 - 0 and breaking at which point the OP won 7 straight.

I believe, although I didn't read to verify, that he explained how he lost the 2nd game in a subsequent post.

I haven't read the thread, but I will say that there are some cool pool peeps in Upstate NY. Pool is definitely alive and well.

My favorite area is Albany, Golden Cue Billiards, where they welcome pool players with signs on the front windows! :smile:

We have alot of dedicated players, but our numbers shrink a little every year. The action is minimal. The economy here is going down the tubes so the money just isn't there.

I understand your frustration. I like Mr. Wilson, though. I realize his actions sometimes cause consternation, but that's just a part of being a moderator. I remember when Mr. Wilson was just a regular ol' member, like you and me. He probably doesn't get to enjoy the pool forum now, like he did in the past, due to being a moderator whose actions are under constant scrutiny. In other words, he's damned when he does and he's damned when he doesn't.

I read where you shoot at Salt City Billiards. I've been there several times for Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour events.

I will never, ever forget attending a Joss tourney in October 2003 at Salt City Billiards in Syracuse, where the owner made some ambrosial Tortellini Soup.

Me and Jim Rempe sat down on the offs, shared a bowl of this homemade soup, and engaged in some great conversation. What a cool tournament with so many cool players of all caliber.

By the way, Jim played well that tournament and defeated Karen Corr in the finals.

No, I said he had the setup to win the 2nd match, with the shot on the 8, but that was the shot he missed because his opponent belched during his backswing.

No it was only 1 set. He broke and ran game 1, ran about 1/2 of game 2 and then sharked me on the 8 with his monster burp move. From there he got spanked 7 games, kicking twice.

Thanks for trying to get this clarified, but even the original story gets mutated here. Oh well if anything it's been educational and it gave me an opportunity to recconect with my good friend Mike Andrews (the future of pool).

I recently cancelled an invite to a pool tournament due to something written on this forum. I have since realized it was a mistake on my end to become threatened, but at the time, I felt my personal security and safety was jeopardized.

The thing is this. It's the silent ones who you gotta watch out for. Keep your friends close but your enemies closer.

Beating APA 4's and 5's in a masters league isn't much to brag about either. I haven't said much in this thread as it really isn't any of my business but I will say this. One day your attitude is going to get you more then a slap upside the head in the wrong place. If you did that where I play you would have likely been picking your a** off the parking lot with the sun rising. I couldn't believe when I was in the AF the guys I met from New York or the New England area.
