At Hanks pool room in Denver they used to put out glasses and a pitcher of ice water for free. Now that is gone and there is a sign "Bottled Water" $1.00.
Any opnions on this?

Support your local pool room and keep it in business. You should see the price of bottled water some places!

It's difficult to have a valid opinion without knowing all of the specifics about their business. Perhaps they are just trying to sell more drinks, which is where a pool room is going to make a majority of their money. Personally, I wouldn't complain. If I can afford a pricey custom cue and an afternoon of pool, I can afford a bottle of water.

sounds smart to me...

Now someone parched from woofing has to pay to quench his thirst. I don't know how many times I've watched guys come into a poolhall, bark for a game (for an hour or two), not get one, and leave; not dropping one red cent to the house. No table time, no drinks, nothing, just hoping to get the LOCK game they came in for. Come to think of it, the $1 bottled water won't stop those guys though (from not paying the house), they'll just cup their hands under the bathroom sink if the woofing gets them a little thirsty.

Not sure what you want with someone's opinion about this.

What use to be fee, now you have to pay.

Sorry for your situation in Denver.

Just another example of the man exploiting the poor down trodden workers.

FREE WATER !!!!!!!

That's what I say brothers!

Don't let the man bring you down!

Could be health code violations in that?

I dont know, but hey... I spend 25 dollars on a peice of chalk. A dollar for a bottle of water aint gonna bust me! (the hotel I was in a few weeks ago had bottles of water in the honor bar for 9.50)

Good for them.

Unfortunately, a lot of 'players' like to think a pool hall is a free public service/hangout like the public library or a bus stop. It isn't, it is a business.

As an example, try going to the movie theater sometime and hanging around for 8-12 hours...then ask them to give you free drinks because you 'paid for the movie ticket (table time) already!' ;)

Well, lol, it's a great title for a movie:

"No More Free Water at Hank's"

Lou Figueroa

My opinion: Hank is under-priced in just about everything at his establishment. I was there last week visiting and his pool, food and drink prices are all great. The poor guy even has a homeless pool player sleeping on his bench.

The mens room has a cold water faucet, and Denver water is pretty dam good.

Power to the people

they have to stay in biz some how, but if its a buck your worried about go to the wynkoop free m-f table and water. just have to pay for parking :/ and deal with the lack of air conditioning. BUT don't expect service if you don't take care of ur server either. So honestly a buck for a water probably is cheaper in the long run.

Funny you should say that. I saw a regular filling an empty bottle in the mens room.
Some of the regulars that I know were quite upset at this paying for water.

And as one poster said the prices are pretty good compared to other parts of the country.
And the home less pool player that hangs out there just might be the best player in the state.

I've paid as much as $5.00 for a small bottle of water before. At Sturgis one year they were selling bags of ice out of the back of a pick-up for $10 a small bag that was half water by the time you could get it in a cooler. We all got to make a living. I think the customers should consider themselves lucky that the management provided free water as long as they did! When I had my last pool room we gave free coffee to anyone who was clocked on a table. People started taking advantage of that and would ask someone who was playing to get them a cup of coffee. When they started that I put my foot down and started charging everyone. Some people ruin a good thing by being nits!
