I played in a tournament tonight at a bar where they prefer to play 'Straight 8 Rules,' instead of ,' Ball In Hand Rules.'
For those who are too young to know, in Straight 8 Rule 8-ball if you do not
hit your ball and drive a ball to a cushion it is not a foul, thus nobody is awarded ball in hand.
Other fouls ,such as scratches, are penalized from the kitchen.
Well, I won the loser's bracket and was shooting the first game of two against the Hot Seat.I had the game pretty well wrapped up and my opponent could not make contact with one of his balls on his shot.I went to the table and out of habit picked up the CB, lined up a shot and made it
My opponent, rightfully so, jumped up and yelled ," We're not playing ball-in-hand!"
I apologized profusely, spotted the ball I had pocketed and gave him ball-in-hand from the kitchen. He proceeded to line up and made one of his balls.
To make a long story a little shorter he then went to the T.D. and demanded that I forfeit the game which meant forfeit the match because he only had to win one game. The T.D. agreed and I wind up with second place money.
I'm not mad at anybody because i want to play there again. I would just like some opinions or maybe a ruling.
