Chicago Pool Hall photos

pooljunkie4ever...Nope, none of those are close to downtown. The closest poolroom to McCormack would probably be City Pool Hall or GQ Billiards, both of which are just west of the Loop, and a short cab ride. Both have pretty pricey table time, but good equipment (City has GCIV's and GQ has Gabriels).

Any of these pool halls close to Downtown, heading to Chicago next month.
Staying close to McCormick.

thanks Scott, any hall open 24hrs. More than likely I will take a trip to Red Shoes, gonna bit the bullet and pay the cab fee. :frown:

Absolutely great pics, thanks for posting them. None of Chris's Billiards? That would have made the set complete.

What games do you play? There is usually banks and one pocket going on there, in addition to the straight pool leagues. Tom Karabotsos has been running some 10 ball tournaments there on Wednesdays.

Let me know when you are going down there. gwtlaw@aol.com.

We have a straight pool league on Mondays so maybe you will be able to hitch a ride.
I take the train down to my house in the southwest suburbs and then drive over there. One guy drives usually straight from downtown to Red Shoes. There might be a few guys who go home through downtown. Freddy the Beard lives over near Chinatown/Bridgeport, not too far from McCormick place and he is there a lot.

There are some weekend tournaments coming up in the next few months. One Pocket, Banks, and maybe Straight Pool in January.

Stay in touch.

Great, great pool room photos. There is nothing like that down here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
Thanks for posting.

Heading over the weekend of the 1pkt tournament, I fly in Sunday, so should be able to catch the finals. What great timing.

This one?

Red Shoes Billiards will be hosting a 2 day (Nov.12th & 13th) ONE POCKET TOURNAMENT. This is a $50 Entry fee (green fee included), $500 added money (based on a full field), double elimination tournament. Players meeting: 12:00 pm (noon) on the 12th ***CALCUTTA***following players meeting. Contact: John Lavin @ Red Shoes Billiards 12009 S. Pulaski Rd. Alsip, Illinois 60803 (tel.708-388-3700) website: redshoesbilliards.com

In the past he has had the tournaments end very late Saturday night/Sunday morning, but this one is supposed to last two days.
You ought to call down there Sunday to see what is going on, depending what time you get into the city. Some of the players hang around for a few days after and get into some action games which could be interesting, too.
