I don't think Perfect Aim is all about "getting your eyes in the right spot to see the shot." There's more to it than that.
Perfect Aim is about placing your eyes at the outermost/innermost limit while still being able to address the CB. Essentially, forcing your head/eyes into a dominant/strong position to or away from the pocket, taking 1/2 of the errors out of the equation right out of the gate.
In fact, from this "dominant/strong position" you can slide into the center of the CB and just make the OB. Forget the contact point....that's a red herring.
I've always been a student of the game, learning as much as I could from anyone I could. Gene's information is unique and I've never heard anyone present eye positioning in the same light. "Eye placement to see the shot" isn't complete in regards to his information.
I'm pretty confident when Hal used to say to "poke your head out to see the outermost edge," his head position is the same as what Gene figured out.
Sweating contact points is bad information, I think... but that's just me.
I wish everyone would get along.
Ummm, no...actually I shot VERY well looking at the CB last, and did it for almost 10 yrs, including gambling that way. Nobody is really "dissing" you. It's great that you are helping people to play better. I personally do get tired of the "I'm the only one that knows this" BS. We've been teaching the same thing as you for years (and you have already admitted that in a 'phone lesson' with another SPF instructor.

On all my Standard shots I like to focus on my aim point. That's about 95% of my shots.
On my Extra Care shots I focus on either the cue ball or a point on the rail. That's the other 5%.
Nice post

Ha --- I need to make controversial comments to get you off the golf course and back on AZWe miss ya!
You got me!
Ya know, when I hit a draw shot, in golf, I hit the #1 contact on the inside part of the ball and a fade is pretty much a zero![]()
Hey Randy, can you elaborate on what you consider your 5% shots that you take the extra care on? As in rail shots and maybe long distance thin cuts or...? Thanks
The one thing on AZBilliards you don't want to ask is anything about pocketing balls. If you go by all the differnt threads you get many, many, many ways to do it. IMO AZ is the worse place for someone new to the game or someone having problems aiming/pocketing balls to ask advice. There are many good people on here that believe their way is the only way or easiest to teach. It confuses people. Johnnyt
i understand what you saying an i am not havin trouble aiming/pocketing balls just wanted too see what they thought about it lol
Which do you look at last?
First I am not a pool instructor, but I have studied the mind for 30 years. You consciously may think you are focused on a, b, or c but in reality you unconscious mind is focused on all three. You steer the cue or change your stroke because your conscious mind is fighting what your subconscious has calculated as the correct shot. Conflict! Remember you see with your mind not your eyes
