Just wondering, what's the best DVD lesson you've ever buy (that really improve your skill drastically)?

Joe Tuckers Guaranteed Improvement is very good provided that you dedicate yourself to doing what it tells you to do. A very close second is Max Eberle's Powerful Pool.

I am sure there are some others out there that are as good and maybe better but these are 2 that I have personally and really liked. Bert Kinister also has a few good videos, 90 minute workout being the best in my opinion.

I strongly second Max Eberle's Power Pool. It's the best instructional video I've seen to date, and he offers information on stance and stroking that can't do anything but help.

To my eyes, Max's fundamentals are as good as anyone in the game. And he offers clear guidelines to put anyone into the same solid positions. His approach is simple, yet explained fully with lots of useful insights into potential pitfalls and drills to monitor one's progress. For example, regarding grip, Max offers there are many ways to grip the cue, and he shows different methods, while describing the advantages and disadvantages. Then he tells what he does and why.

The video Scott Lee took of me, during our lesson. I go back on scan through certain parts of it from time to time, especially when I'm having issues.

I know that doesn't help you at the moment.... But, if you ever decide on a lesson....The resulting video will help tremendously.

I've heard alot of great things about Joe Tucker.

In all seriousness, the DVD's that have assisted me most are Accustats matches with Billy, Danny, Grady and a few others as commentators.

They provide more insight than any other DVD's I've watched. I've seen all the Jimmy Reid tapes, all the Bert Kinister tapes. And those guys have good info, but it is not all encompassing.

You shouldn't need a DVD to help you pocket balls. What you need help with is managing the game. The risk/reward of sending the cueball this way or that way.

I haven't seen Max's tapes.

MY VOTE.

Almost any Accu-Stats DVD with good commentary, like Billy and Grady. There is no better money to be spent in pool.

'How to' vs. 'when to'

Lou-

Hard to dispute that match commentary by Billy or Grady is hard to beat for value.

But I also agree that among 'instructional tapes', particulary for fundamentals-it's hard to beat Max Eberle's dvds.

The accustats dvds/tapes with expert commentary are very educational as to 'when to' shoot certain shots, or make certain strategic decisions.

The instructional tapes are more of the 'how to' information and demonstrations that can add to your overall game and shotmaking skill set.

Both are worthwhile-one for learning to make shots, the other for making good decisions evaluating risk/reward, table management, patterns and creativity in learning to win.

Certainly, once you pocket balls well and control the cb well, Billy and Grady help you see the opportunities and pitfalls of particular choices made by top players. I wish I could see what they see-when they see it-instead of with hindsight after things go very wrong.:o

Runout Media has a new instructional DVD coming out soon.

I really enjoyed the Mika Immonen series.

Ive also seen a video by AZBilliards own Scott Lee and Randy G. (I think?)

If you are not a complete beginer and understand the basics of billiards/pool, then streaming of top players with the nice close ups and camera angles that are produced today by TAR and other streamers will teach you a lot if you watch them carefully. With the TV measal ball it's easy to see what type and how much spin, draw, and follow good players are using to do certain shots or control the CB for position. Johnnyt

PS: As others have stated above. You can't find a better aiming system IMO than Joe Tucker's "By The Numbers". Whenever I have a tough shot to continue a runout I use that system to shoot the shot. But his drills are to tough for my lazy ass..

hmmm

"Banking with the Beard" bank DVD's will really help your banking game.... even if you are already a good banker, the "banks that don't but do" will show you some of those "impossible banks" !!

"www.bankingwiththebeard.com" Lots of books and other goodies too :)

Depends on your current level really. If you can run out, just don't do it often, watching dvds of matches will help you greatly on your patterns and decision making. If you struggle to pocket balls or you have limited knowledge of how to get your cueball around the table, you should check out DVDs like Max Eberle's powerful pool etc.

Any review for perfect aim or cueing arts billiard instruction?

Geno is promising a new and improved version of Perfect Aim and I would wait for that.
VESP mentioned in the thread is excellent as it shows many different shots, huge amount of info.
Powerful pool is instruction on stroke, stance, bridge and much much more great value.

I haven'[t seen all of the VEPS series, and I haven't seen all of the DVD's listed in this thread. But, if you want a LOT of info, VEPS is very hard to beat.

X2 for the VEPS.. Dr. Dave and Tom Ross put together a very Strong DVDs.

I saw Jimmy Reid's 8Ball video a long time ago and it really helped my Game.
Jimmy was truly a gifted player!
I hope he is doing well.
