Very rare ivory ginacue

Wow! Ernie was doing some amazing work decades ago....wow..

Wonder if Ernie remembered who that cue was made for, given that the initials are on the butt??? I guess a second owner, or someone else period could have added the initials later on...

Probably worth asking him, if you already haven't

I sent him an email earlier today to find out the cue was made for. Hopefully I will know by tomorrow.

I'm assuming you don't know much of the history of this cue? If I'm wrong could you tell us what you know?

Am I right in thinking the GINACUE logo is inscribed directly on the delrin butt cap? Or is it on a ring and I'm just not seeing the seam?

Hi Kavin,

I know nothing about the history of this cue. All I know is what Mr. Ernie told me. I think this cue has lots of history and I would love to know more about the hitory of this cue. I will try to contact Mr. Ernie and the person I bought the cue from and ask him about the history of the cue. Ginacue logo is inscribed directly on the derlin butt cap.

That's a very unusual butt cap treatment to say the least, although the lettering sure looks like Ernie's work and the rest of the cue for sure is, with the possible exception of a refinish or two.

I think you would do well to ask your friend, because Ernie doesn't remember that cue (its a LONG time ago) and he was as mystified by that butt cap as I.

I had a very high bid on this cue, congratulations on the purchase, it's a whale of a cue. I spoke to Mr. Gutierrz about it a few weeks ago and he assured me the butt cap was replaced. The original was ivory as well, not derlin. He didn't replace the cap and felt someone took a cap from another cue of his, but it's definately a vintage Gina. Probably the D.H. does not relate to the original owner, maybe even the owner of the cue the butt was taken from to do the repair.

IMO this cue properly restored by Mr. Gutierrrez, with an ivory buttcap would be worth a minimum of $7500.

I was sick missing this cue, but it's sure to find a very prominent spot in a collecting. Your photos are far suoerior to those of the listing service.

Did you attend the sale in person and pickup the R series Schon's as well?? The R10 is a very nice cue, don't give it away. Bob Runde Schons, the natural forearm cue is not a catalog model early 1982,with yellow Westinghouse micarta ferrules. The R10 is fairly rare, also came in red and green veneers.

Again congrats, this was a huge find and purchase.
