Bought this cue originally thinking it was a Huebler. The pics I saw of it made the thread of the shafts look black so I thought they were nylon. I get it and everything about the cue is different than what I thought. Thread is brass. 5/16x18 flat face joint. IVORY joint, ferrules and inlays. And yes, I am 100% positive that they are ivory. The points even seem to be nicely done. Everything nice and even. I believe the butt cap was replaced at some point as it doesnt seem like it is original. And it will need it again.:D Dont know if possible very early Meucci or what. But everything is straight. All I do know is it has some years behind it. Look how dark the shafts are. The joint isnt chipped or cracked. Just a finish chip that is dirty. Gonna try to clean it. Got the weight bolt out. The buttcap is slid over a white material. I believe it to be original as it seems to be part of the white ring that you can see above the cap. But in the last pic you can see where the piece is chipped. I believe it was chipped when the first cap was broken. (Guess anyway) The wrap is cortland I believe as well. Thanks to all for any input

Got it from someone is Georgia. It was a cue I found on the Bay. I initially thought Huebler. Liked the design and figured hey, 150 and refinish it and I got a good little cue I can take to the bar.(When I get a chance to go that is) Then I get it and am totally bewildered. I asked the person where they got it but I havent heard back yet. How do you take a wrap off without ruining it. I believe it is cortland and if it is, I would like to clean it and have it put back on.(If possible) But thought maybe it may have some kind of marking underneath it.

I was waiting to see who outbid me in the last second;)

Even with better pics I don't have a good idea, but I still like it.

Dont know who made it. But with all the ivory in it, easily worth the money I spent. I thought it was lost in the mail. They live 300 miles from me and it took 15 days for it to get to me. Just got it yesterday afternoon. Shipped on 7th and received on 22.

You can't clean it and put it back. It would be cleaned in place. If you remove it, you are replacing it.

I saw that cue on Ebay. Tried like heck to figure out what it was, never thought even close to Huebler. Not a Meucci either. Thanks for the closer pics. I will look into it more. I love unknown cues.

Right now I won't guess.

Anybody else?

The pics on there really sucked. The only thing that made me think Huebler was the threads looking like they were nylon. I couldnt tell the joint, inlays and ferrules were ivory either. But aside from the Rambow I picked up, this is the most intriguing cue I hav picked up off of there. What cuemakers have used the 5/16x18 flat face joint other than Huebler and Meucci?

Too many used that thread to narrow it down I think. We can only rule out the ones we know never used that thread, Like McDermott for example.

I am very impressed it is ivory. Makes me wish I had bid. As I said, I like unknowns.

As an identifier I am more impressed with the joint ringwork and dotted ringwork in the butt sleeve.

Seems to me I have seen such dotted rings but I can't think of where. Same with the joint rings. They look familiar but I can't think of where.

I wish we kept a sticky for identifying cues around here. We could keep identifying things there, like the many catalog scans in the forums. Identifying rings and pins and stuff. The way it is it takes extensive searching in the forums. It literally takes hours when it could all be in one thread.

I say look for those rings and you will find the maker.

Nice find, I am envious. The price was good I think. I would get that butt cap repaired properly with Ivory. It's worth it.

I may do that. I really liked the design. Made me think of an old cue design by Gina. Dont think it is theirs though. Just the dots in the butt sleeve do.

I thought the same thing about the dots...Gina-like in some ways....but not.

I bet it hits nice. Let us know.

In general cues like that don't need a name attached to them to be impressive in my book. It sure does help the market value though.

That thing is old school from when old school wasn't old.

Now that would be an amazing find.

I have seen dotted rings like that I think on one of his....and maybe similar rings.....

Could be.....maybe......

The seller got back with me and this is all she could tell me.

"Glad you like the cue and it was worth the wait. Sold it for my best friend. An old boyfriend left it at her house about ten yrs ago. She was with him when he bought it in colorado along with a josswest cue and a david kikiel cue. She said all of them were custom and he payed a small fortune for all three. The josswest cue sold for around 1300. That's about all I know other than they were stored in a case all this time. Thanks for your patience and please leave positive feedback if possible. Happy thanksgiving."

Buttcap material is probably McDermott.

They broke like that. It would be a C or older serirs if McDermott.
Nick :)

No doubt..Ive seen a lot of the early McD'S and some others with the blown out but-cap. In most cases it comes from bouncing the cue or slamming it down. The rubber expands and pops the side out.

Could be the same butt cap material as a McDermott, looks like it, but it's not a McDermott. Everything else about it would be wrong for a McD.

Cue

Roland Becker is still making cues. This cue could have made by Mark Moore. But he would have MOORE on the butt cap.

I have seen many differant things at the joint of McDermot Cues.

Could be the same butt cap material as a McDermott, looks like it, but it's not a McDermott. Everything else about it would be wrong for a McD.

It also happens to be broken right where the logo is placed. Probably special order. They did small pins. Big pins. Flat faced steel in big and small pins and piloted joints too in all materials on special order.
The cues were a little more expensive special order. Otherwise the joint is all wrong. Bob Muecci's son inlaw could have built it also. I forget the company name. Started with an "L" maybe. Left Muecci and built his own stuff for a while.
Nick :)
