What is your pool nickname, and how did you come by the nickname?

In the old days it was Dick and my name is not Richard!! Now its simply BW I've mellowed with age, just like whiskey

I heard that you use to take off a whole room and then come back months later wearing the toupee. Made me laugh

Actually my "disguise" came about by accident. After acquiring the toupee I returned to a pool room that I played in a year or so earlier. The only other difference in my appearance is that I was clean shaven with no mustache. I end up playing the same guy I had played before and beating him again. He did say I looked familiar and asked me if I had ever been there before. :p

I developed a case of "the shakes" the past few years...comes and goes. But I can still play, as long as my last stroke is smooth.

I am Shakeysmooth

Shakeysmooth, do you like your name?

A nickname is just that, a nickname! Long as you can still play that is good.

Mine are only APA related as thats the only place I have a nickname but I had two of them - "Four 4 Life" cause no matter how much I won or who I beat my skill level stayed a 4 for 4 years... and the other was - "Seven Killer" for similar reasons as previous the SL 7's in my league used to complain that I got too much weight...

Frankly both of these nicknames were a little embarassing but you learn to embrace it.

On a bad night when I dont quite bring my line or A game my pop's calls me Scratch...

On a good night some people have called me Combo because I can throw together some crazy shyt... Thats about it

"THE LEGEND" I played alot from age 16 to 25 and played pretty sporty. Then totally got out of it all together up until 2 years ago when i picked up the itch. Went into our local pool hall where several players from back when I used to play were there and of course several I didn't know. The ones who didnt know me were asking the others who i was they told them I played back a long time ago 15 yrs. to be exact so they came up with the NICKNAME "THE LEGEND"

THANKS

Just like it reads, what is your pool nickname and how did you get the name? Thank you.

(insert flashback music)

The guy running the student union pool hall at USF was named Bob and, for some odd, unknown reason, he frequently adopted an Italian accent, though the closest he got to Italian was an occasional pizza and cheap Chianti.

His usual greeting to me, though I'm not Italian either, was, "Hey! A Luigi, whatza goin' on?" So that's how I got my first nom de pool. Others heard this and actually thought that that was my name: Luigi.

So I'm practicing one day and this tall, thin, good looking Chinese girl (Kathy, who went on to become a really good player on the West coast), asks me to play some 9ball. She was pretty good, but I beat her easily. So about then Bob walks in and does his usual, "Hey! A Luigi, whatza goin' on?" Now apparently Kathy had heard through the student union pool hall grapevine that "Luigi" was the local star. And being the young, innocent, impressionable pool fanatic that she was, her eyes got quite large and she almost whispered to me, "Are you Luigi?"

Well, she might as well have been asking if I was actually Robert Redford. I was in, like Flynn.

Ah, the 70s...
