Earl/Shane score

In boxing, that would have been the exworld champion leaning on the ropes for support, telling the new world champion...you've beat me kid, but you never knocked me out....you NEVER KNOCKED ME OUT KID, I'M STILL STANDING!!!!!!!!!
Apples and oranges.Too different sports on 2 totally different levels of every aspect possible.Pool could never reach the heights of other big sports due to the lack of sponsors and the lack of professionalism from leagues to tournaments. When people try and candycoat the notion that its up to the guy being cheated or sharked, that he has to change his ways and deal with it ,is why the sport is in dire need of a different code of ethics!

hmmm...can you just imagine how hurt Earl must feel right about now, if a dog was hurt that bad, would you really stick your hand out to pet it right about now?

Well......I don't gamble as high as they do but I have been on the winning side and the losing side plenty of times.

If the loser starts barking about how he was cheated then I simply say "flip it".

Shane agreed to all of Earl's stipulations. Twice.

Earl took himself out of it. He has all the skills needed to hand with Shane all day and night EXCEPT for the mental stamina.

There is NOTHING on the table that Shane does better than Earl. But off the table Shane maintains his composure 100x better than Earl even though Shane also can get frustrated and shows it.

Shane won but not because he only outplayed Earl. He won mostly because Earl gave up at the end in my opinion.

TAR did an outstanding job on this stream as usual. With that said, this is the last PPV I will purchase with Earl involved. I've never watched the man act out this bad for this long. It was a train wreck. :scratchhead:

Shane is a cool dude.
Earl did not take the loss well.

Personally, I could get sick and tired of watching 'call shot with an option'...
..it takes a lot of magic out of the game.

I agree. To bad, really.

Lets get real here and put all the sharking stuff to rest...

I guess Professional baseball is a real sport? Right? Basketball Right?Waving the batons while the guy shoots free throws... Heck even starting out in little leauge you are taught to shark... "Hey bater batter swing!" And they do it many, many times every game and in different ways. The real Proffesional players learn to put it out of their minds... Period... End of discussion.

I'm sorry....but you really missed the point, in fact I doubt you'd understand it anyway.

He won mostly because Earl gave up at the end in my opinion.

I agree with that. That will be the last match I ever pay for that includes Earl in it. He caught a pretty high gear to get the match to 65-65 winning 6 games in a row with pretty dominant offensive and defensive shots leaving Shane little chance to stop him. Then at 65-65 Earl simply gave up, I mean immediately you could see his composure completely change, the effort suddenly just disappeared and he pretty much purposely threw the match. He was by no means assured to win had he actually put in the effort and stayed focused, but after that comeback he had Shane seriously rattled and if he kept up the pressure I do think he would have been the favorite and it was going to be an exciting finish.

Instead we saw Earl just totally give up, he gave Shane back the table every time Shane missed, he did not even attempt to aim kicks or hit them with any plan in the slightest. He went 130 games putting in a fair amount of effort at times to GET to 65-65, then he simply gave it away and it sucked for not only him, it sucked for Shane and it sucked for the fans as well because after 130 games of play and what might have been a really interesting finish Earl made the whole match pretty much a pointless waste of time.

It is Earl's choice to go and do that but next time I sure as hell am not going to pay to watch it. I wanted to watch Earl shoot and play to win, not completely give up at the critical point in the match.

Yeah, I have to agree. I like Earl but his behavior when he plays is an embarrassment to the game. Even McEnroe at his worst was nowhere near this bad. It's got to stop.

Yeah, I feel the same way. He should've played hard to the end. I hate to see anyone go out like Earl did.

I agree, it is very frustrating to see Earl throw in the towel. He has been doing this for a long time too. He did it in the Color of Money match in 1996 too.

I was pulling for him today. He was playing great. He did get some bad rolls, but he brought the end on himself- particularly with that miscue when it was 65-64 or something like that- he talked himself into that- he said he would scratch right before he shot it.

It is a shame, because he is an incredibly talented player. Even at this stage of his career, almost all of his talent remains. In terms of sheer talent, he is certainly better than Shane, but Shane has it together much more between the ears.

Tennis,Golf, track, even bowling that draws more money than pool, they seem to play with much better sportsmanship.Your comparing team sports to individual sports. And yes I know in the mma and boxing are solo sports and theirs cheering and yelling,so i guess we should teach the young up and comers in pool that cheating is okay and the fine science of sharking is just part of the game? The Real Professionals don't need to cheat to win...Period...End of discussion

I dont think you will find to many pro baseball players yelling hey batter batter and there is rules against distracting the other team in the rule book. Basketball pros dont wave those annoying batons its the fans do all of these players are professional and so should Earl he is forsure one of the true great players of the game but acting this way is a far cry from professional maybe he belongs in little league

I know exactly why Earl lost, and Shane won, question is, do any of you really know? You're all upset over Earl losing, but the Earl you feel that lost, was the Earl of the past, when Earl was much younger, the Earl that showed the world that he was indeed...a world beater, and proved it on a regular basis. The Earl you watched play Shane for the last 3 days was just a figure of the old Earl, the new Earl is much older than before, though in great shape, his heart is the problem, it beats a little slower today, than when he was the Earl of old. When he was running out racks before, he was like a quarter horse out the gate, down the track in lightning speed to the finish line, but today...he needed to run like an Arabian long distance champion horse....like Shane is, but that takes a big heart...a heart that'll go the full distance, not just...most of the way:cool:

The last time I saw someone with a heart as big as it takes to win...with age, was George Foreman, when he knocked out Michael Moore for the world heavyweight championship...even after losing the first 11 rounds, he still didn't quit, and when Moore stood still just long enough for him to hit him and knock him out...he finally won...for the last time!

Earl has to decide for himself, how much he wants to win...and decide how he's going to find that ability to stay focused to do so, because the one thing he has to understand...and admit to himself first....is that what ever he did in the past...won't help him win today.

Yep, Earl can spin the cue ball probably better than anyone on this planet, but...spinning the cue ball and missing the shot don't help win the games need to win. Spinning the cue ball and making balls...for short distances...won't win in the long run, but spinning the cue ball, making the balls...and staying focused for as long as it takes to win...that's where Earl falls down in the end, that's because age is taking over the place of heart, and the will to win...and pride is what keeps Earl going today.

Boy the line makers had this one peged out pretty darn good,my veiw of this match was, these are 2 great players, and either 1 of them could of won this match, just so happen that svb pulled ahead at the rite time(at the end)there should be no embarrasement to Earls pool game(except his behavior, ofcourse), he is still very strong, this was a great battle and the better player came out on top,end of story!I WONDER HOW MANY GAMES EARL COSTS HISSELF,WITH HIS CRAZY WAYS,THIS IS PROOF THAT IT IS NEVER GOING TO END FOR EARL,HE IS REALLY SLOWLY KILLING HIMSELP,MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY,REAL SOON!
