Video of Rodney Getting Pissed Off at Mosconi Cup

As I posted in the video clip,it doesn't matter if Darren can Box or not.I don't care if a guy is a 5th degree blackbelt,if you blind-side him with a steel pipe,he's f--ked!I don't know or really care who would win a fight with these guys but its not up to Appleton to control anything other than his pool game.I think Rodney directed his anger at the wrong guy,he should of went off on the TD or the referee for not keeping control of the crowd.

This is completely on the refs and TD. Rodney went off and shouldn't have. Not saying it wouldn't be easy to do but you can't do that kind of stuff.

Now, I don't think some crowd reaction is a bad thing though. Look at all the crap the fans do when someone shoots a freethrow and that's right in their line of sight. Just because you're a spectator at a pool match doesn't mean it has to be church

You Have Got to be Kidding

Fran to say it's Charlies fault and not Rodney's fault is wrong.
How can you just blame Charlie?
You do that because you are trying to protect a player like yourself.

Both were wrong let's be honest.

Pool has never beern a church social, "Play Pool Rodney".

This incident is how the world see's us.
This is why they have termed the phrase "Ugly American's".

This behavoir is unacceptable for the current and future sponsor's of this event.

Was it what Rodney said that was wrong or was it that he swore when he said it?Again the control is up to the refs and the TD.If it isn't why the hell do we need referee's for or a TD,let the players do everything.

ex-boxer? what-evas.

you guys have no idea who Rodney used to run with in Hawaii.

I'd put money on him against Daz any day of the week. name the time, name the place. haha!

anyway Rodney was more pissed at the fans than Daz. He just took it out on Daz.

this is Mosconi Cup! emotions run high.

Rodney did what he thought was right at the time, evidently he manned up and apologized for it later. Ugly Americans, if it was not for the so called Ugly Americans, this world would probably be run by dictators now. We have brave men and women putting their lives on the line right now, while we set here and enjoy these great matches.

So, we have professional players condoning threats of violence from other professional players at a professional venue?

No wonder pool is in the toilet.
Sure emotions run high. But threats of violence?

Should be grounds for an INSTANT disqualification, or forfeit.

what a load of crap from some of you.!!!!!!!...Rodney morris flare up was disgraceful and out of order threatening violence and foul language towards another player. esp on tv.....my young sons aged 9 and 11 was watching this at the time so if you think it was funny you are a bigger idiot than rodney morris.i .the reff was no better he should have stepped in straight away to calm things down...Rodney brought it on himself he never shut up talking to the crowd the first 4 racks while he was playing,,so the euro fans answered him back so he went off on one then and tried to be a earl strickland ...He as shown himself to be a total idiot and matchroom sports should ban him from all there events ..as for the comment about hitting someone on the blind side with a pipe just shows what a coward you are. i wonder if the sponsors found it funny to.i think not ...

Rodney was right.

The European team had total power to turn around and quiet their fans a little while their opponents were at the table, but instead they chose to sit there pretending to be totally innocent. You can see right through that fake 'who me?' look they were giving Rodney.

Glad to see that the American players aren't passive aggressive like other teams are.

I definitely agree with this. Not only did they(the Euros) not even try to quiet their fans, and I mean from talking loudly while we were shooting, but then Appleton chose to smartoff when Rodney said something. A total no class move. BTW my money is on Rodney if they go outside.

I agree with you.
What i cant understand is with an event like this how do people in the stands get away with this until it gets out of hand.
I as a player or ref would of had this stopped from the get go.

Ref and tournament director failure. Rowdy fans need the boot the second they start to misbehave. The ref and/or tournament director are directly responsible for maintaining the setting, and this is a great big giant example of a failure to do that.

A Mosconi Cup without heated emotions, verbal assaults, out-of-control instigating crowds would just flat-out suck.

For those who are worrying stuff like this scares away sponsors--- don't worry, they're not watching anyways.

just blowing off steam

You know it really gets me that we live in a world where this is even a big deal .No one came to blows and Rodney was simply blowing off some deserved steam. We live in such a politically correct world it's really a mess.
For example one of my girlfriends X's called and texted her after she very nicely told him she was in a relationship and wanted no contact. So after he persisted under the guise of "we are just friends checking on each other" I told her to tell him if he called again that I would "handle it " .This guy up and calls me on the phone ....can you believe it ?? He goes on about how I had made a threat and that could hold up in court and on and on .So I said no you did not understand I said "I would handle it " .Then I asked if he was now married ,and he is .So I simply said maybe my way of handling it would not be violent at all ,perhaps I would just visit your home and ask your WIFE why you felt the need to keep contact with my girlfriend ?
I say good for you Rodney ,you handled it !! Who would want to live in a world where we are not free to express ourselves ?Of course I had to think too that if it were Earl it would of been even more magnified by the public eye.Now days they try so hard to silence the expressive ones or give them a pill to dull them out .It's the ones that are dulled out on the pills you have to worry about ,not Rodney simply speaking his truth. For those intrested 8 out of the last 13 kids that shot up the school house or shopping mall were on some form of psychotropic drug. Now, would you rather not of seen that kid say Mutha Fu... we can handle this in the street ???

Your rite it is fun to watch when things get heated up but there comes a point where u draw the line.Getting a player so pissed that he starts letting the f word go and wanting to beat someone a$$ is a little much.
It's not only himself he's representing .

Rodney

The refs should have stepped in, but I don't see this as a big deal. If you have played pool for a number of years, there has been a time when you were that mad. I am old school, and not of the politically correct generation.
It is one thing to have manners, and it is another to HAVE TO BE politically correct all the time. Makes me gag.

You guys are wrong, Pool needs more emotion in it, and a little sh*t talking.
Look at how much attention that Minnesota Fats brought to the game by the way he was.

Here in Wichita, we are embarking on a mission to rate players like boxers kind of, and we are having challenge matches, $100-200 a set, race to 7, play 5 sets, with the option to go 'all in' in case the sets end up 2-2 after 4 sets. The room owner keeps score by games and sets, his wife racks, and each challenge match is recorded by camera. He publishes the results and advertises the matches on Facebook. The players sh*t talk back and forth on Facebook before the match. It gets people interested, and they have usually around 50 spectators for each Challenge match. Oh yeah, the room owner throws in a $100 to the winner of the Challenge Match.

The matches are played on Saturday night at 9 p.m. Since this has been going on, more people than ever are interested in watching and playing.
It has generated more excitement about Pool than there ever was before.
The latest development is the room owner is going to have a 64 player handicapped tournament.

Where is Michaela Tabb when you need her?

The Brits have a history of fan aggressiveness. Ever been to London when Manchester United is playing the home team? I thought I was in World War 2 all over again. The singing and stomping was unbelievable. Busses coming in from all over the country.

Hawaiians have a local mentality. Sort it out in the park after school. After that we party together. (Im a local)

Passion is good for the game but it still needs professionalism. Outbursts happen. Its played by humans not robots. Rules and power of ref needs to be institued like other sports. Both sides should have been warned. Penalties given if it continued. However it made for exciting viewing.

As far as children viewing it. I dont know if they can be protected from this kind of human behaviour. Dont think it doesnt happen on the school playground. The important thing is how you deal with it as a parent in teaching them correct response to it and also how to defend themselves against obnoxious behaviour.

As for the 2 men dukeing it out. I dont know about the results and I dont care. But Im sure they would honestly feel remorse and regret about the outcome. After all they both have worked so hard to perfect their game and they are both good champions. They can probably empathize with each other as they have both been on that same road. Champions let their game speak for themselves.
