Danny Medina. Champion -for-hire

From post # 4 on this thread: " lapped the coin around the table." Great
expression. Never heard it before. Deserves a permanent place in the Pool
Players Lexicon.:lmao::clapping:

Has Danny played against Bill Skinner? I would sure like to see those two match up. I would consider them the best local talents at this time.
Are you serious, Bill Skinner. When I lived there, he wouldn't bet water was wet and only played Blind old women. We used to call him nit-knock!

............. you may go in peace."

LOL, sorry had Clint Eastwood moment... l will check my PM, hope you left your number...

Thank you so very much!!

Well I'm better than he is, I"m willing to bet water is wet and I'm even willing to play with blind "young" women!

Skinner bets, but he ain't reckless. From what I saw the other day, there isn't anybody in Colorado that wants any of Medina right now.
Danny isn't world class right now, but he can go deep into a large tournament and suprise many.

all things considered . . .

why not play earl Strickland? two guys from the same era

All things considered if Danny is anything like the Danny of old I'd make him the favorite on a bar table. Hate to say it but there is probably more left of the Danny of old than there is of the Earl of old. Danny could bring tremendous heat, I don't think Earl is up to that these days.

Ironman, your PM BOX is full and cannot accept messages.

I emptied mine yesterday and, as of 10:47MST, have not received your pm.

Well, I have emptied mine too and don't know what the problem is but most have the number anyway so here it is again.
Sorry for the hassle!

Brings to mind this lesson:

A prophet is never honored in his own househlod.

observe:

yup, really

Really?...................................

Yup really, although my post wasn't real clear. Earl is very capable of delivering the heat these days, I don't think he is capable of taking it. Whatever flaws Danny may or may not have he has or had as much heart as anyone that ever swung a cue stick. Earl has wilted under heat more than once in recent years.

Hu...Earl just skunked JA 9-0 at the Turning Stone event. He's still got plenty of firepower! Like I've said a million times before...once you reach 'elite' level you just don't forget how to get out!

I agree, but can he face somebody shooting back at him?

Scott,

It isn't Earl's ability to send fire downrange that I question, it is his ability to take heavy incoming fire and keep shooting that has proven suspect in recent years in my opinion.

Hu

Hu I would agree that Earl can bring it but he has showed that he is far from bullet proof, and few are at his level. It has been years since I have talked to Danny and I never got to see him play much in the first place so who knows his "over all" level.

There will be days where Earl will skunk other world class players and then there will be days when the demons will skunk Earl.

One thing is for sure there is but one way to find out;).

I like comparing champions to this list.

#1) Staying calm under pressure = maintaining a physical looseness and emotional/mental relaxation when the game is on the line.

#2) Concentrating on what’s important and being able to either block out and/or let go of distractions.

#3) Rebounding quickly from mistakes, bad breaks and bad calls during the run of the game.

#4) Avoiding psych-outs and intimidation.

#5) Mastering physical and emotional adversity/pain/discomfort.

#6) Effectively handling last minute negative thinking and self-doubts.

#7) Maintaining control of your emotions.

#8) Believing in yourself NO MATTER WHAT.

#9) Being self-motivated.

#10) Having winning self-confidence

There are a LOT of guys in my league with these very qualifications. Unfortunately, not a one has a world championship or a US Open victory :)
