Shane is not better than Earl

I may bring in a attitude that is unpleasant but I am the complete opposite after my match. I just don't know how to compete otherwise.
Thanks

Mike,

I noticed you conveniently responded to what you wanted to, ignoring the below, which is of much more concern to me than you getting into a racking pi%%ing match with Shane.

"Does no one remember when he came into the booth during the OMGWTF challenge match and kept going on about how he'd like to gamble with either one of them?"

Care to give a defense of this behavior?

Russ

Some people would argue that a match on a 10 footer is the gold standard of top play
I would consider that argument to be null and void since this is not a standard any of the pros actually play on.

If this was the "gold standard" then all the major tournies would be using them.

Plus both players have also argued that the 10 footer they played on played funny and wasnt in the best shape.

30 second shot clock, 10 foot brunswick, different speed cloth on the rails and slate, heated table, a 6 foot pool cue being used by Earl... NONE of this says standard in any way.

Umm...... Hmmmmm.... Would they like to gamble?? Lol. Russ, I was probably kidding like the beginning of this post. I have a sense of humor.

While totally offtrack about Shane/Earl, I met Mike a few times at Snookers, during matches he is for sure in a different state. Kinda like Earl minus the tantrums. Everyone else is not as good, they don't deserve good rolls, look at what he did to me missed and I have no shot, etc...

Outside of the pool table, anything negative about others comes out as dry humor, I don't think I've heard him do anything mean or say anything that was not at least half a joke when bashing another player.

I would not put him in an Efren or Shane class when it comes to being gracious, but he's not any worse than many other players. Of course no-one touches Efren when it comes to humility, I just saw a match where he made some super draw spin shot, during the interview he said "yea it was an OK shot but Corey (Deuel) can shoot it even better".

Mike,

I watched the match and was annoyed by the whole racking biz - I was actually hoping Shane would lose to Earl as I was the one who wrote the original post. That being said, I hate watching a match where there is so much time and emphasis being put on the racking. I can understand your point but as a fan it takes away from the game. Just my opinion.

Mike Dechaine puts off such a bad vibe when he plays, you find yourself pulling real hard for the little turd to lose or fall and break his neck. Either one would be fine. Acts like a spoiled little brat!!

First of all, you guys have very little clue what you are talking about about. You will sit here and slam me but take no attention to Shane slamming the rack on the table when I was up 7-4. I felt like your ittle sweetheart Shane sharked me. I am sorry that I educate myself with information about the rack and I am not going to let him or anyone else try to give me a bad one. Last of all, I go into my matches wanting to win. I may bring in a attitude that is unpleasant but I am the complete opposite after my match. I just don't know how to compete otherwise.

I may have reacted rashly with the words I wrote. I guess I just reacted emotionally to what I saw and felt. Hey I guess we all are guilty of that.

As far as your game goes, I do respect your game however. I have watched you play several times on live stream and you tube and you always plays strong.

And I've never seen you act out of line. I guess I shouldn't judge by something I've seen only once. Sorry

That was a pretty abrupt about-face.

Kinda funny, when making fun of someone, no one ever expects that person to pop up and ask, "What you were saying?"

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

I'm a big enough man to admit when I've jumped to a conclusion. As far as Dechaine, I have never met the guy and I don't know him and will probably never meet him. I was doing the same thing he was. Reacting emotionally. Been bad for that all my life.

I'm sure Dechaine probably all right off the table.

Dechaine is definitely a douche..

Does no one remember when he came into the booth during the OMGWTF challenge match and kept going on about how he'd like to gamble with either one of them?

He was not as well known back then, but it definitely made an impression on me..

I too would like to play people worse than I.

Santa, you listenin, fatty?

I met Mike out at Fatboy's home in Vegas, very nice guy to talk to and hang around with on or off the table.

Mike, just play your game the way you already play it, stay focused and let time take it's course, and don't worry about what the peanut gallery has to say...they're not the ones you're playing anyway. You have nothing to prove to anyone except to yourself...and the person you're playing:cool:

Its all good, trust me. I have been putting up with this for a long time. Thank you.

Man this thread ended up off topic.

I was enjoying the comments and different points of view about the Shane vs. Earl topic. I learned quite a bit.

I think my opinion falls in best with The Renfro, and he most likely said it better than I. I have a fairly extensive knowledge of mental illness, and medications in general. The Renfro was dead-on in his write up about the "magic bullet". Treating mental illness is exceedingly difficult, and usually fails miserably. Earl certaimly needs treatment, in my opinion, and I wish he would try, but I also know that it probably would not work.

Earl's skills are, quite possibly, unmatched. I think there is no doubt that if he could control his emotions, he would be untouchable. I have watched him make pattern errors at the table, and I have also watched matches where it looked like he was trying to be too fancy with the cue ball instead of just taking the win the easiest way possible. But, I have seen plenty of players do this, amateurs and pros alike. Sometimes, you just want to show off, and if your in high gear, you feel like you can and get away with it.

Right now, with all things considered, Shane is the better player, and will win more often than Earl. But, that does not automatically make him better, or more talented, than Earl. The OP's original question is almost impossible to answer. Too many variables involved.

The Renfro: I am terribly sorry to hear about your ex-wife. I know how hard that situation is. My ex has borderline-personality disorder. Unbelievably difficult to deal with, and it takes its toll on my two children.

Finally someone who sees the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Earl might have the better natural athletic ability then Shane. But with everything put together Shane is the better player!
