Break & Run by RunOut Media is AWESOME!

It's Christmas Eve and I wanted to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas.

This is a 3 DVD set of video pool instruction (4 hours worth), produced by RunOut Media and it involves 13 different professional players. If you like getting your information from the source, then this DVD set will soon become part of your collection.

The pro players on Disk 1 are Rodney Morris discussing ADVANCED FUNDAMENTALS and he gets an A from Joey A for sharing his "SECRETS". Believe me, there are many and he gives them up one after another.

Raj Hundal presents pattern play in his amicable but professional style and shows you not only the best way to run out but why other ways aren't as good. Two thumbs up for Raj on this part of Disk 1.

Alex "THE LION" Pagalayan covers kicking and banking along with systems that you can use. He shares many of the Filipino SECRETS that you have seen with your own eyes but didn't know how they did it. Now you can learn for yourself, direct from THE LION himself. He is SO funny but just like everyone in the video, a true professional, giving up the SECRETS minute after minute.

You won't see any fluff in this set of DVDs, that's for sure.

On Disk 2 Mika starts talking about the 9 ball break and you wonder if he is ever going to stop talking about the break. It's incredible what he shares in the video. You want to know about offensive and defensive racking; well Mika shares all of the SECRETS. This is something I will be reviewing for myself time and time again.

Appleton covers 10 ball like the World Champion he is. His amazingly accurate prediction of the paths of the object balls on the break is something to behold (and it doesn't look choreographed to me). He's just that good.

If you want to know the BEST WAY to play 8 BALL, Karl Boyes gives you the pro side of high-level 8 ball.

The third DVD is Break & Runs by players like Boyes, Hundal, Appleton, Mills, Strickland, Morra, Klatt. Klatt shows you how to run an 8 ball rack with instruction using what I call "shifting gears", telling you what he is thinking each second of the run out. Earl is not only entertaining but he gives up TWO VERY IMPORTANT secrets and shares them openly and candidly all the while, running out.

If you're like me, you'll be returning to this set of DVDs for a long time to come. Rodney's demonstration and soliloquy is worth the price of the whole set of DVDs. There's nothing on the market like Break & Run and that I guarantee.

THIS SET OF DVD's eclipses everything on the market in my opinion. RunOut Media has always been a top notch videographer utilizing the best video computer graphics and they disappoint here either. However, I could have easily been satisfied just listening to what each and everyone of the pros had to say. It's like taking a personal pool lesson from each one of these pro players. It is a must-have set of for the serious player or the person who simply wants to know what and how the pros do what they do.

Nathan DuMoulin, take a bow. You have just set the benchmark for pool instructional videos.

Merry Christmas and family.

I appreciate the info on the DVD's as well. JoeyA, I wish that you and your family have many more Christmases to come. I am glad you are my friend.
I hurt my back last week, so I might not be playing for a little while. Lower back at that. It is always a pleasure to see you and watch you play your game.
Many Regards,
Lock n Load.

Thanks Lock. Heal that back and see you at the "world's pool room" after Christmas.

JoeyA,

Mine is in my mail box, according to my employee -- problem is, that's almost two-hours drive from here so I'll have to wait until after the first of the year. Reading this has me all antsy now. You are so right about RunOutMedia being top notch videographers. Everything they have done to date has been outstanding.

Bob,
I think that MANY people will be giving this set of DVDs two thumbs up. It is the best one I have every seen, imo.

Based on past DVDs coming from this crew ~~ that's strong ... real strong!

Bob,
To be candid, while I've always enjoyed the video graphics that RunOut Media has provided, the pool instructional video of Mika Immonem lacked the kind of content that I look for. That first video was designed more for a novice rather than someone who has been around for a while. It appears that the high quality graphics is a trademark of RunOut Media and now with this new creation, they have tapped into my hot button.

Rodney Morris shares in the video that he looks at the cue ball last, FWIW. That's a minor part of his "Secrets" but it is becoming more apparent to me that I must revisit looking at the cue ball last.

I also order this set.. Will review in time.. Have mixed feelings now.. Also my DVD #2 stops playing around 12 mins during Darren's 10 ball breakdown... Tried multiple players, possible disc defect!

But my case is probably an outlier! I will have to get in touch with runout!

I have sold hundreds of DVDs and I think around 1-2 out of 100 might be defective but it happens for sure. I will from time to time get a customer that says a disc does not work or stops, I have had a batch before that did not work and that sucked. Sometimes its the customer with an old DVD player that does not play some of the newer DVDs that are used.

Ya I made sure to do some trouble shooting.. I tried multiple players and finally popped it into my computer and as it reaches 12:33 on disc #2 10 ball break down it just crashes. So I think its just corrupt data or something... the next chapter, 8 ball break down works fine.

But I sent an email to runout and it looks like nathan is already on top of my issue!

So thank you Nathan and runoutmedia for great costumer service and an excellent product!

I also have this DVD set and fully agree this is some of the best instructional material out there.

Alex and Mikah's set are all the way pro. Karl Boyes puts in some great content as well on 8-ball, I just wish he had contributed more content.

I'd give this dvd 9.25 out of 10.

I just got Jimmy Reid's set for Christmas. Haven't looked at it yet, been a long day;) I'm curious if anyone who has both could compare them.

"Second to none" graphics is pretty much synonymous with RunOutMedia ~~> a given. The Mika video lacks the content you or I would drool over it was, and still is IMO, great for the intended audience. Although slaver-free to the seasoned/somewhat seasoned sector, it is still useful as it never hurts to go back and take a refresher course from time-to-time as we humans (unlike the robots that we try to emulate) have a tendency to fall back on bad habits (sometimes unknowingly) and need a reminder. For some reason that darn ego "thingy" gets in our way and we don't religiously go back and revisit what got us to this point and "reboot" our memory banks. It's like those times when we drain a difficult shot, get on the final ball for an easy out and the "you're not ready" signal is there but we go ahead and shoot anyway ... and miss. It generally boils down to, at least in my case, a need to readdress my fundamentals.

You have both my curiosity and wonderment buttons in the "on postion" with this one. Curious as to the why and wonderment as to if he applies this to every shot. It sounds a bit contradictory to me; however, I will refrain from commenting on this until I have an opportunity to review the DVD.

maxepad -- my antsy level went up another notch. I'll probably end up driving back and playing the DVD before I even unpack. After which I will, more then likely, drive to the pool hall and try some things. I can see it now, my unpacked luggage will still be inside my front door a week from now ~~ if it gets that far  !

I just wanted to quickly thank everyone for their generous feedback. The DVDs are far from perfect, but I feel they're a significant step in the right direction. Everyone who starred in this project really did a great job. Their knowledge couple with their easy going personalities really made for an enjoyable experience. Dave Mccoll who helped with the filming also really stepped it up and worked hard.

Thanks again everyone.

Then he must be at the top rung (step) now and needs to take heed:
